July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health matters for everyone, but not everyone has equal access to care or feels equally represented in the mental health system.

Cultural experiences, discrimination, stigma, language barriers, and limited access to care can all impact how—and whether—someone seeks support. That's why culturally responsive, compassionate care is so important.

At Calm Mind Counseling Center, we believe everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, heard, and respected. Healing begins when people can show up as their authentic selves without fear of judgment.

✨ Meet the Team ✨

We’re excited to introduce Kurtis Klein!

With a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Loyola University, he is passionate about helping adolescents and young adults navigate life’s transitions with confidence and support. His approach combines person-centered care, CBT, narrative therapy, and psychoeducation to create a safe, understanding space where clients can grow at their own pace.

Whether working through anxiety, trauma, or major life changes, he believes therapy should feel collaborative, empowering, and uniquely tailored to each individual.

Outside the office, you can find him enjoying fantasy fiction, board game nights, weightlifting, and spending quality time with loved ones. Fun fact: he previously trained as a competitive powerlifter!

We’re so grateful to have him on our team!

Hot Girl Summer… but emotionally thriving. ☀️💚

This season isn’t just about looking good, it’s about feeling good, protecting your peace, and choosing yourself unapologetically.

We’re prioritizing:
✨ boundaries
✨ rest
✨ emotional wellness
✨ healing
✨ saying “no” without guilt

Reminder: taking care of your mental health is always in style.

Pride is about authenticity, community, and being seen for who you are. 🌈

But for many LGBTQ+ individuals, mental health challenges can be intensified by discrimination, rejection, isolation, or feeling unsafe to fully express themselves.

At CMCC, we believe everyone deserves access to affirming, compassionate mental health support and spaces where they feel heard, respected, and valued.

Your identity is valid.
Your feelings matter.
And you deserve support that honors all of who you are.

This Pride Month, let’s continue creating safer spaces for healing, connection, and acceptance. 💚

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

Mental health affects everyone, including the men who often feel pressured to stay silent, “be strong,” or handle everything on their own.

This month, we’re encouraging open conversations, emotional honesty, and reminding men that asking for support is not weakness, it’s strength.

You do not have to carry everything alone.

A lot of people delay therapy because they think their struggles aren’t “serious enough.”

But therapy isn’t just for crisis.
It’s for clarity.
It’s for growth.
It’s for understanding yourself in a deeper way.

You’re allowed to want support before burnout.
You’re allowed to work on yourself even when things look “fine” on the outside.

You don’t have to reach a breaking point to deserve help.

If you’ve never been to therapy before, it’s normal to feel unsure about what to expect.

Your first session isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s not about saying the “right” thing.

It’s simply a space to:
– get comfortable
– go at your own pace
– start where you are

You don’t have to share everything all at once.
You don’t need the perfect words.

Just showing up is enough.

Burnout doesn’t always look like collapse.

Sometimes it looks like:
– procrastinating everything
– feeling numb instead of stressed
– being tired no matter how much you rest
– getting irritated over small things

Rest alone doesn’t fix burnout. Understanding what’s draining you does.
