Sublingual Gland Tumors: A Rare but Significant Diagnosis
🔴Frequency - Sublingual gland tumors are rare, comprising less than 1% of salivary gland tumors.
🔴Tumor Type - Most are malignant, commonly adenoid cystic carcinoma or mucoepidermoid carcinoma.
🔴Presentation - Typically appears as a submucosal mass in the floor of the mouth, potentially causing discomfort or pain, difficulty swallowing, restriction in tongue movement
🔴Surgical Considerations: Resection involves navigating the complex anatomy of the floor of the mouth, requiring precise management of the lingual nerve and submandibular duct to minimize complications.
Given their rarity and malignancy rate, sublingual gland tumors require expert evaluation and management.
