We need to stop calling the bare minimum “a good man.”
A man texting you back isn’t romance.
Planning a date isn’t extraordinary.
Opening a car door isn’t a personality.
Paying for dinner once doesn’t mean you’ve found your husband.
Black women have been conditioned to celebrate crumbs because we’ve been taught to be “independent” and “understanding.”
But baby… I don’t want to be understanding of your inability to show up.
I want effort.
Consistency.
Consideration.
Generosity.
Emotional maturity.
Peace.
I’m not asking for too much.
I’m asking the wrong person for enough.
And there’s a BIG difference. 🖤
