Halfway through the year and maybe you’ve been surviving more than living.

Holding it together. Pushing through. Adjusting in real time. Smiling while tired. Carrying things you never really paused to process.

This is your reminder that wellness isn’t always a glow-up, a vacation, or a perfectly curated routine. Sometimes it looks like grieving what the year took out of you. Asking for help. Letting something stay unfinished. Choosing joy before everything is “fixed.”

Take inventory of your life — not just your accomplishments.

How have you been treating yourself lately?

There’s a difference between looking rested… and actually learning how to slow down. 🤍

As a licensed clinical psychologist, entrepreneur, community leader, and now mother-to-be, I know firsthand how easy it is for Black women to become everything for everybody while quietly running on empty.

This conversation isn’t about perfection. It’s about wellness that’s honest. Sustainable. Real.

Join me at powered by Black Girl Vitamins for a conversation centered around rest, wellness, balance, and what caring for yourself can actually look like in real life.

Meet us there. 🤍

Black women are often expected to be everything for everybody.

Strong. Dependable. Resilient. Put together.

But who teaches us how to rest? To be vulnerable? To exist outside of survival mode?

I’m excited to be speaking at the powered by where we’ll be talking about all things mental health, self-care, the “superwoman” schema, vulnerability, strength, softness, and what wellness actually looks like in real life.

Basically… I’m coming to help y’all get it together a little bit. 🤍

I’ll be there and I want you in the room with me. 🤍

Black Girl Wellness Fest is coming to Chicago and I’m so excited to be part of an experience built specifically for us.

Two days. One experience.
✨ Fitness Party — Friday, June 26
✨ Wellness Fest — Saturday, June 27
📍 UIC Forum | Chicago

This is the kind of space I talk about all the time — where you don’t have to explain yourself, edit yourself, or show up as anything other than who you are.

And chileeee… if you haven’t noticed, I’m pregnant 🤍😂

This season has been teaching me how to slow down, sit still, receive support, and actually practice the wellness I’m always encouraging other Black women to prioritize.
As an entrepreneur, wife, mama with two children in the house and one on the way… whew, we’re about to go deeper. I’ll be there to talk honestly about the importance of wellness for Black women, what balance really looks like, and how survival mode can quietly become our normal if we don’t intentionally care for ourselves.

Come learn. Come connect. Come exhale. 🌿

🎟️ Grab your tickets at blackgirlwellnessfest.com or click the link in bio. Use the code “DR A” for a discount!

I’ll see you there.

Being strong for everyone is not the same as being okay. 👀

At some point the weight catches up.
And you’ll wish you had let somebody in sooner.

Let people love you back. 🤍

💬 Tag your strong friend. They won’t tag themselves.

Looking good can really help you feel good… and lowkey, that’s therapist approved 😂

Behavior impacts mood way more than people realize. Sometimes getting dressed, doing your hair, putting on perfume, or actually leaving the house isn’t about being “extra”… it’s behavioral activation.

Those small things can help interrupt stress, low mood, isolation, and feeling stuck. Sometimes it’s not even about the outfit fr… it’s about trying to feel like yourself again. Put on some lip gloss and go out and get touched by the sun today! ☀️

What’s one small thing you do that instantly helps you feel more like YOU again?

If you made it to the last slide… this post was written for you.

The high-functioning woman who looks like she has it all together — but hasn’t felt like herself in a while.

The one who’s productive, capable, and running on empty all at the same time.

You don’t need to do less.

You need a room that finally pours back into you.
That room exists.

🎟️ | June 26–27 | UIC Forum, Chicago

Link in bio — come be there.

💬 Save this and send it to a friend who needs to be in that room too.

Rest doesn’t even feel like rest anymore… it feels like you’re falling behind.

Sound familiar? 👀

That’s not laziness. That’s a nervous system that learned how to survive through constant motion.

So when you finally stop…
the anxiety doesn’t disappear — it gets louder.

The work?
Slow down anyway.
Pay attention to what comes up.
And don’t try to carry it alone — unpack it with someone trained to hold it with you. A licensed therapist.

It’s not about whether you show up for people.

It’s about what happens in your body if you don’t.

If their crisis feels like your emergency — that’s not empathy. That’s a pattern. And it’s exhausting to live inside of.

💬 Does helping people energize you or deplete you? Be honest. ⬇️
