Have you ever been told “everything looks normal”…but you still don’t feel like yourself?

Maybe you’re tired. Your digestion feels off. Your sleep has changed. Your cycle is different. Your weight feels harder to manage. Or you just know something isn’t quite right.

Labs can give us valuable information, but they’re only one piece of the puzzle.

Sometimes we need to look more closely at the foundations: Are you eating enough? Getting enough protein and plants? Sleeping? Strength training? Recovering? Managing your stress load?

And sometimes, when those foundations are in place and you’re still struggling, it may be time to look deeper.

The goal isn’t to chase perfect numbers or test just for the sake of testing. It’s to gather the right information so we can better understand what your body may be asking for.

Your symptoms matter. Your labs matter. The whole picture matters.

Test, Don’t Guess.

Do you actually need functional testing?

Maybe. But not always.

Sometimes we need to work on the foundations first. And sometimes you’re already doing many of those things and you still don’t feel like yourself.

That’s when I start asking: What are we missing?

In this week’s episode, I’m talking about when testing can be valuable, when I wouldn’t recommend it, and why more testing isn’t always better.

These are the wins I LOVE to hear.

✨More energy.
✨Less bloating.
✨Down 5 lbs.

And she’s just getting started.

No extremes. Just understanding what her body needs and supporting it from there.

Small shifts create big change.

09/17/2026

Your healthy habits shouldn’t only work when life is calm, your schedule is open, and everything goes according to plan.

Because when does that actually happen?

I believe in planning ahead. I believe in prioritizing sleep, eating enough protein, strength training, moving your body, and supporting your health consistently.

But I also believe those things need to have some flexibility.

Some weeks meal prep is organized and planned. Other weeks it’s a rotisserie chicken and a bag of pre-cut veggies.

Some weeks you get all of your workouts in. Other weeks you prioritize recovery or squeeze in a walk instead.

That’s not failing. That’s real life.

The goal isn’t to build a routine you can follow perfectly.

It’s to build foundations you know how to come back to.

Small shifts create big change.

If you’re a woman in midlife and you’re tired, gaining weight, not sleeping well, feeling more anxious, dealing with brain fog, or suddenly having digestive issues, it’s easy to think…
It must be my hormones.

And hormones may absolutely be part of the picture.

But they may not be the whole picture.

Blood sugar regulation, gut health, nutrient status, stress, sleep, recovery, thyroid function, and how well you’re fueling your body can all influence how you feel.

And often, these systems aren’t working independently of one another.

That’s why I don’t love looking at one symptom and immediately trying to “fix” one hormone.
I want to know why you’re feeling the way you’re feeling.

Your symptoms give us clues. The goal is to step back, connect those clues, and look at the whole picture.

Because sometimes what feels like “just hormones” is your body asking for support somewhere else.

Test, don’t guess.

I care a lot less about the number on the scale than I used to.

Because especially in midlife, muscle tells me so much more.

Muscle supports your metabolism.
It helps with blood sugar regulation.
It supports your bones as estrogen begins to decline.
It helps you stay strong, capable, and independent as you age.

And this is also why simply eating less and exercising more isn’t always the answer, especially if weight loss comes at the expense of muscle.

In this week’s episode of You In Balance, I’m talking about why I care more about building and preserving muscle than chasing a lower number on the scale, plus the role of strength training, protein, recovery, and even why this conversation matters if you’re considering or using a GLP-1.

🎧 Episode 28: Why I Care About Muscle More Than Weight is live now.

Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

And remember: the goal isn’t just to weigh less. It’s to build a body that supports you for decades to come. 💪

We’re starting today. 🍂
Today we kick off Fall Foundations Reset, and I love where we're beginning.

Not with cutting calories.
Not with eliminating foods.
Not with exercising more.

We’re starting with nourishment.

Week 1 is Fuel Your Foundation, and we’re focusing on how we can better support the body through protein, balanced meals, blood sugar stability, hydration, fiber, plants, and a little planning to make it all easier to actually do.

Because one of the biggest shifts I want women to make is to stop immediately asking:
What do I need to take away?

And start asking:
What might my body need more of?

That idea extends far beyond this three-week program. You don't have to completely overhaul your life to start feeling better. Sometimes the most powerful place to begin is simply making sure your body has the support it needs.

And if you've been thinking about joining us, it's not too late. You can still jump into Fall Foundations today and start with us. 🍂

Small shifts create big change.

We tend to underestimate small changes because they don’t feel like enough.

But your health isn’t built by what you do perfectly for two weeks. It’s built through the small things you can actually keep doing.

One balanced meal. One walk. One earlier bedtime. One strength workout. One better choice at a time.

You don’t have to change everything to start changing something.

🍂 And that’s exactly the philosophy behind Fall Foundations—simple education, realistic actions, and three weeks of coming back to the things that support your body.

We start September 14. Enrollment is open now.

“Eat more protein” sounds simple...until you're standing in your kitchen wondering what 25–30 grams of protein actually looks like.

One of the easiest strategies I teach is to start with your protein source and build your meal around it.

That doesn't mean you need a giant piece of meat at every meal—or that every meal needs to hit an exact number.

Think of 25–30g as a practical target, not another rule you have to follow perfectly.

Your protein can come from one primary source or a combination of foods. Then round out your plate with plants, fiber-rich carbohydrates and healthy fats to help support stable blood sugar, energy and satiety.

And yes, this applies to breakfast too! Eggs + egg whites, a protein smoothie, or even last night's leftovers are all fair game.

Protein first. Then build your plate.

Simple, balanced and doable in real life.

🍂 This is one of the foundational nutrition strategies we're working on inside Fall Foundations, starting September 14.

Save this one for your next meal-planning day.

You probably already know a lot of the things you should be doing.

Eat well. Move your body. Build muscle. Get enough sleep. Manage stress. Support your gut.

The hard part isn’t always knowing what to do.

It’s figuring out how to do it consistently in real life.

That’s why I created Fall Foundations Reset. 🍂

Three weeks to simplify, refocus, and come back to the habits that support your health—without restriction, extremes, or trying to do everything perfectly.

If you’ve been craving a little structure and accountability to help you get back into a rhythm this fall, this is for you.

🍂 Fall Foundations starts September 14.

Enrollment is open now.
