Major advocacy update!

The U.S. Senate has unanimously passed the bipartisan National Plan for Epilepsy Act (S. 494), a major milestone toward establishing a coordinated national strategy to improve epilepsy research, care, public health, and quality of life.

Thank you to our members, volunteers, coalition partners, and congressional champions--in particular, Senators Eric Schmitt (MO) and Amy Klobuchar (MN)--whose advocacy helped get us to this point.

The bill now moves to the House of Representatives, and our work continues. Next week, AES will be back on Capitol Hill meeting with House offices to build support and keep the momentum going.

Together, we’re one step closer to making epilepsy a national priority.

AES mourns the loss of Dr. Jong M. Rho, a respected physician-scientist, educator, mentor, and longtime leader in the epilepsy community.

Dr. Rho dedicated countless hours to advancing the mission of AES through his service on numerous committees, including as Chair of the Scientific Program Committee. His contributions to epilepsy research, education, and patient care—and his commitment to mentoring the next generation—have left a lasting legacy.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Dr. Rho's family, friends, colleagues, trainees, and everyone whose lives he touched.
