After cardiac arrest the percentage of survival rapidly diminishes within minutes but with proper training and tools the odds of survival is greatly increased. If someone receives defibrillation with CPR within 1 to 2 minutes their chance of survival is 80% versus a virtual 0% chance of success after 10 minutes.
