There is a chapter of motherhood no one prepares you for, the one that begins after the baby arrives. The quiet, the overwhelm, the healing, the identity shift… the Fourth Trimester.
The Fourth Trimester is the first 12 weeks after birth. This a sacred, tender window where a mother is not only caring for her newborn, but also being reborn herself. It’s a time that deserves just as much intention, support, and reverence as pregnancy… yet for so many women, it’s the most unsupported phase of the entire journey.
At Fourth Trimester Postnatal Retreat, we exist to change that.
This is not just about rest. This is about recovery. It’s about being held while you learn to hold your baby. It’s about having expert guidance at your fingertips such as: lactation support, newborn education, emotional care, nourishment, sleep, and space to *just be*. It’s about restoring what modern motherhood has lost: community, care, and compassion.
And while I am so deeply honored to lead and grow this vision, I want to acknowledge something important. This concept, this movement, this intentional approach to postpartum care was founded by the incredible Megan Francis Boroff.
Originally rooted in the D.C. metro area, this vision began as a powerful response to the gaps in postpartum care for American mothers. And in what feels like perfect alignment, I had the opportunity to acquire the company and bring Fourth Trimester to Chicago, expanding its reach while honoring its foundation.
Our alignment couldn’t have come at a more divine time.
What she created, I felt in my soul. What I’ve experienced in my years of caring for families, she had already put language and structure to.
It was never about reinventing the wheel, it was about expanding it, nurturing it, and bringing it to more women who need it.
Fourth Trimester is more than a service. It’s a shift in how we view motherhood. It’s a reminder that moms deserve to be mothered too.
From Washington D.C. to Chicago… and this is only the beginning 🤍
