October is National Depression & Mental Health Screening Month, a time to check in with yourself and the people you care about. Mental health screenings can help you recognize signs of depression, anxiety, substance use and other concerns, and connect with support when you need it.

At IWS Family Health, we provide comprehensive, integrated Behavioral Health services alongside our other clinical services, so your mental health is always at the center of our whole-person care model.

Use the attached self-screening activity from Magellan Health to get started. You can also talk with your IWS Family Health provider about your mental health and whether additional support may be right for you.

Taking a screening is a simple step toward understanding your mental health and getting the care you deserve.

We’re grateful to Jewel-Osco for supporting Janie’s Kitchen Food Pantry and helping make nutritious food more accessible to the families we serve.

Access to healthy food is an important part of good health. When families have reliable access to nutritious meals and the foods they need, they have more opportunities to support their health and well-being.

Through Janie’s Kitchen Food Pantry, IWS Family Health helps connect families with food and resources that can support their health beyond the exam room.

Thank you, Jewel-Osco, for helping us make food access part of whole-person care and for investing in the health of our community.

This National Midwifery Week, we’re celebrating the midwives who help make compassionate, culturally responsive maternity care possible for families in our community.

We’re especially grateful for our clinical partners at Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Humboldt Park Health and their midwifery teams for providing experienced maternal health care and treatment to IWS Family Health patients. Their expertise and commitment help ensure our patients receive the thoughtful, supportive, and respectful care they deserve.

Thank you to all the midwives who care for families, helping them feel empowered, informed, and included throughout their pregnancy.

This week, we’re taking a moment to celebrate and thank the incredible Physician Assistants (PA) who make a difference in the lives of our patients and staff every day. PAs play an important role in making our high-quality care more accessible, especially as the need for health care providers continues to grow.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) projects a shortage of 37,000 to 124,000 physicians by 2034, while PA employment is expected to grow by 31% by 2030. As demand for healthcare services continues to rise, PAs play a vital role in expanding access to care and helping meet workforce needs.

Thank you to our amazing PAs for their expertise, compassion, and dedication! You bring joy to every patient you serve, and we’re so grateful!

September is National Recovery Month, a time to recognize the many paths to recovery, reduce stigma, and raise awareness about the support and resources available to people experiencing substance use challenges.

At IWS Family Health, we recognize that recovery from substance use is a personal journey that can look different for everyone. Compassionate behavioral health care, connection to resources, and ongoing support can help people take steps toward their recovery and building a healthier life.

This week, we’re joining the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and Optimity for the National Council x Optimity 2026 Challenge, happening Sept. 24–30. The free, interactive challenge features daily quizzes and activities that explore recovery, challenge common misconceptions, and share ways to support people in recovery.

IWS Family Health is growing, and we’re looking for a C-suite executive to lead our efficient, values-driven organization through the next stage of growth.

As IWS Family Health expands, we’re seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will bring structure to complexity, build scalable systems, and guide staff through change while keeping IWS Family Health’s mission and commitment to high-quality, comprehensive care at the center of their work.

We are currently operating across multiple locations in Chicago, and we are excited to expand our services into the suburbs. Two additional facilities in Belmont-Cragin and Melrose Park are slated to open later this year and next year, creating an important opportunity for a seasoned healthcare operator to guide the organization through significant growth.

Reporting to and partnering closely with our Chief Executive Officer, the COO will help shape how IWS Family Health operates, ensuring our departments, facilities, systems, technology, and workflows are aligned to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience for all of our patient families.

This is a pivotal time to join IWS Family Health. We’re looking for a leader who is strategic, hands-on, and energized by growth.

If you’re ready to join our senior leadership team, help build the systems, structure, and operational strength needed for our next chapter, and lead a growing healthcare organization into the future, we want to hear from you!
