The Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute is looking for a full time Staff Psychotherapist to join our clinical team downtown. This role carries a mixed caseload of children, adolescents, and adults, with grief focused work through Barr-Harris as scheduling allows, grounded in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theory.

We are looking for a fully licensed clinician (LCSW or LCPC) with experience working with children and adolescents, comfortable working required hours after 5pm, Monday through Friday, as part of a full time schedule.

Research Participants Needed
Hello, I am conducting a research study at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute. We are seeking
a small group of psychotherapists to participate in a 6-week Spanish-language Balint Group.

This study explores:
• Feasibility and acceptability of the Balint Group for psychotherapists working with Hispanic
immigrant patients affected by immigration enforcement
• Emotional stress in immigration-focused clinical work
• Professional isolation
• Reflective capacity in the therapeutic relationship
Participation involves:
• Six weekly 90-minute Balint Group sessions
• Brief pre- and post-questionnaires
• Hybrid format: in-person in Chicago or via Zoom

Eligibility criteria:
• 18 years of age or older
• Spanish as your first or preferred language
• Currently practicing as a psychotherapist
• Currently or within the past six months working with Hispanic immigrant patients affected by
immigration enforcement (e.g., deportation fears, family separation, or related distress)
• Willing to attend six weekly 90-minute sessions and to participate in audio and video recorded
sessions

Participation is voluntary. Interested individuals will complete a brief screening conversation prior to enrollment. Limited to approximately 6–8 participants.

The Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute is looking for a Staff Psychotherapist to join our Treatment Center, working primarily with children and adolescents through our Child and Adolescent Clinic (CACS). This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the heart of downtown Chicago.

You'll be surrounded by a community of psychoanalytically trained clinicians and faculty with access to training programs, lectures, and seminars that most clinical settings simply can't offer.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Arnold “Arnie” Tobin, a longtime faculty member, training and supervising analyst, and beloved teacher at the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute.

Arnie represented a generation of psychoanalysts who helped build and sustain CPI through decades of dedication to teaching, clinical work, and the advancement of psychoanalytic thought. Known for his intellectual rigor and deep commitment to classical theory, he inspired countless students, colleagues, and clinicians.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Eva Lichtenberg, former Chair of the CPI Board, and to his family and loved ones.

May his memory be a blessing.
