Whether you’re headed to the beach or playing in the sandbox, try following your child’s lead and letting them explore in the way that feels comfortable for them. Supporting the Kimu Family After a Devastating Loss

The Silveira Behavior Consultants (SBC) community is coming together to support the Kimu family during an unimaginable and heartbreaking time.
The Kimu family is a family of five: a mother, father, their two daughters, ages 22 and 5, and their 7-year-old son. The families' two youngest children have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Their 5-year-old daughter currently receives ABA therapy through Silveira Behavior Consultants, and their 7-year-old son was preparing to begin ABA services with our team after returning from his summer trip to Malawi, Africa, with his father.
This summer, the family’s son traveled with his father to their home country of Malawi to spend time with extended family. Tragically, while there, their father was involved in a devastating car accident. He spent many days in the ICU before sadly passing away from his injuries.
Following his passing, their father was laid to rest in Malawi according to the family’s faith and traditions. Their 7-year-old son remains in Malawi with extended family as his mother and sisters work through this unimaginable loss and navigate the process of safely bringing him home to the United States.
This sudden loss has left the Kimu family facing an overwhelming number of challenges all at once. Along with grieving the loss of their husband and father, the family is now working to bring their son safely home and navigate the unexpected responsibilities that have followed this tragedy.
Our goal is to help ease some of this financial burden by supporting the family with travel, legal and immigration-related expenses, and other immediate needs as they work to reunite their family.
As a community, we want to help carry some of this burden for the Kimu family.
Every donation, regardless of size, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, coworkers, and community is also an incredibly meaningful way to support them.
The Kimu family has become a valued part of our SBC community, and we are honored to stand beside them during this incredibly difficult chapter. Our hope is that, together, we can help ease some of the financial burden this family is facing and, most importantly, help bring their family back together.
