If you’ve ever found yourself….

🤝 staying up too late to get every detail *exactly* right
🤝 saying yes to too many things for fear of punishment or not doing “enough”
🤝 avoiding assignments because you don’t know how to do it perfectly
🤝 constantly worried whether you are feeling, thinking, or saying the right thing to coworkers, classmates, or intimate partners….

This workshop might be for you!

Led by our therapist Em, this workshop will provide you tools to help understand, process, and navigate performance anxiety, so that you can ultimately learn how to live with and move through anxiety when it arises. Em will offer psycho education on performance anxiety along with somatic and mindfulness practices, partnered with written and verbal guided reflection alongside community. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of your own patterns, multiple tools in your toolbox, and a feeling of connectedness to others experiencing something similar.

Therapy is more than just feeling better - therapy, as Em describes here, can be a place to learn how to be with big, uncomfortable, or challenging emotions. Learning to accept that those feelings are there is a courageous step to figuring out how to work with them.

For more thoughts on being with your emotions and accepting challenging emotions, check out Em's blog, Learning How To Be Anxious, on the blog now here: https://www.roomtobreathechicago.com/blog/learning-how-to-be-anxious

Doing anything in times of environmental turmoil can feel hard. Practicing yoga during climate crisis might feel even harder, particularly if you're someone dealing with climate anxiety, immunocompromised, or hey, just a human dealing with the awareness of the world being on fire and the impact of that.

When we practice psych-sensitive, trauma-informed yoga, we practice with all of that in mind - we acknowledge that we are in crisis. We work with the awareness that we all have different needs, capacities, and abilities to show up day to day. And while it can be challenging to show up for your practice in these times, it can be a helpful reminder to hear that you are not alone - and that your practice can support your ability to show up for these challenging times, to build capacity to move through them or act as a respite from them, and ultimately, to connect: both to yourself, your motivations, intentions, and that truest part of you, as well as to others, your community, your natural world, and beyond. If there's one thing climate crisis shows us, it's that we are all interconnected.

Reconnection - remembering that inherent connection that we already have - with the earth is the theme of Laure's monthly yoga nidra offering, happening this Sunday, July 26th at 2 pm. In this class, we dedicate our practice to reconnecting with the Earth and the natural world, inviting you to sense yourself as part of our surrounding environment through embodied awareness, breath, and guided visualization. Yoga nidra is a practice that can bring both rest and ease while connecting your unconscious mind to a greater intention - a meaningful practice to support you during this time.

Reconnecting with the Earth: A Yoga Nidra Practice for Deep Rest is this Sunday at 2 pm. Register to join here: https://momence.com/l/P0h8Om4a

You might be familiar with a similar experience: the way your mind starts auditioning the worst version of how something could go, the work you know how to do but can't make yourself start, the way even love can start to feel like something to optimize or get exactly right. Performance anxiety, often born from the desire to be “good enough,” isn't a problem in itself — it's often a sign that something matters to you. The trouble starts when it begins to shrink your life: the opportunities you don't take, the things left unsaid, the self you don't quite let anyone else see.

In this gentle, supportive, and direct 2-hour workshop, you're invited to join Em, a behavioral therapist at Room to Breathe to:

✨️normalize, validate, and deepen your understanding of performance anxiety
✨️engage in somatic and mindfulness practices to increase your capacity to stay present in the face of pressure
✨️learn about orientations to live with and move through anxiety
✨️be in community with other who know what it's like to feel like they're always being watched, measured, or judged.
..all through a combination of psychoeducation, somatic + mindfulness exercises, and individual + group reflection.

📍Living With Good Enough: A Workshop on Performance Anxiety happens Sunday, August 16th from 2pm - 4pm.

Welcome, Darcy, to the Room to Breathe therapy team!

Therapy with Darcy (she/her) is a flexible, client-centered space that adapts to your needs rather than a fixed process or one-size-fits-all model. She sees therapy as shifting depending on the person and what they are navigating. At times, it offers support and validation; at others, reflection, coping skills, sensory and emotional regulation, grief processing, or exploration of deeper patterns. Darcy’s approach is responsive rather than rigid, shaped by your goals, lived experience, and what feels most supportive in the moment; her role is to hold that space with you in a way that supports insight, regulation, and meaningful change.

Consider working with Darcy:
🌱 Neurodivergence
🌱 Autism & ADHD
🌱 Gender & identity development
🌱 Anxiety
🌱 Grief
🌱 Life transitions

For many folks living with anxiety, completely eliminating anxiety is rarely an option. And while that may sound like a total bummer at first, our therapist Em is here to offer a reframe: perhaps we can learn alternative ways of being anxious rather than trying to exile it. What changes for you when you consider being in relationship with your anxiety, rather than trying to force it to go away?

Em's blog offers a pathway towards reframing your relationship with anxiety - check it out here: www.roomtobreathechicago.com/blog/learning-how-to-be-anxious
