Let Your Voice Be Heard
The future of global donation and transplantation is being shaped now.

The World Health Organization’s provisional Global Strategy on Donation and Transplantation is currently open for public consultation, with feedback accepted through August 31, 2026.

The Global Alliance of Eye Bank Associations (GAEBA) has released a pre-recorded webinar featuring Efstratios (Stratos) Chatzixiros, WHO Advisor for the Organs, Tissues and Cells Transplantation Programme, and Associate Professor Graeme Po***ck, architect of GAEBA and a leader in the development of the Barcelona Principles.

Together, they explore the strategy’s proposed direction, including global access and disparities, ethical considerations, transparency, vigilance and surveillance, and how members of the donation and transplantation community can contribute feedback.

Today, we're pleased to highlight Sierra Eye Bank, one of Vision Share's valued member eye banks, and the meaningful impact they are making through community partnerships, patient care, and vision loss awareness.

Recently, Sierra Eye Bank attended the impactful Dining in the Dark event hosted by the Northern California Lions Sight Association. This unique experience gave guests the chance to dine blindfolded, deepening awareness of vision loss and highlighting the importance of sight-saving work.

It was a meaningful opportunity for Sam Ramos, CEO to share Sierra Eye Bank’s journey, from original roots as a Lions Eye Bank to their current partnership with NCLSA who have generously supported a grant helping individuals suffering from severe dry eye. Currently, they have helped over 20 patients-in-need receive serum drops free-of-cost.

Did you know that corneal tissue plays a critical role in advancing ophthalmic research and surgical education?

In addition to restoring sight through transplantation, corneal tissue helps researchers develop new treatments, evaluate emerging technologies, and train the next generation of eye surgeons.

At Vision Share, we are proud to play a role in not only transplantation, but also the research and education that supports global sight restoration.
