Happy Nowruz (+1 day) - aka Persian New Year. I know it can feel weird to celebrate anything at the moment, with the world in so much visible pain, but this holiday, that aligns with the Spring Equinox, is all about new beginnings and hope - and we can all use some of that!
I didn’t grow up knowing very much about my paternal Persian roots (a mix of the Middle Eastern on my dad’s side) - so it’s special to see people’s “haft-sin” for the holiday - an intentional arrangement of seven symbolic items, and others to represent nature/rebirth (grass), the passage of time (clock), fertility (eggs), a mirror (self-reflection), sumac spice (the symbol of sunshine), a candle for enlightenment, and more.

Simplicity Sundays. No one would call me a minimalist, but this Spring, I’m committing to taking tasks off my table on Sundays as a antidote for “the scaries.” It’s cool to want to “get ahead” on the “day of rest” but those two goals are kind of polar opposites. So, for me, this day is about doing what feels supportive for feeling prepared, but also, giving myself space to play around. What can you simplify today?
