If your toddler suddenly seems less interested in food than they used to be, you're not imagining it — and you're not alone! After the big growth of year one, toddlers naturally slow down a bit and their appetites follow. That's totally normal.

The key is keeping what you offer nutritious, even if the amounts are small. Toddlers do best with 3 meals and 2–3 healthy snacks a day. Think fruits, veggies, whole grains, and proteins. And when it comes to drinks, milk and water are really the best choices — even 100% fruit juice adds extra sugar and calories without much benefit. Don't get discouraged if your little one refuses something; it can take many tries before a new food clicks!

Toddlers need to get their nutrients from a variety of foods. Fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, and lean proteins will now become an important part of your child’s diet.
