I used a multi-step treatment plan, including laser, subcision, and laser-assisted drug delivery, to assist this client who presented with acne scarring. Laser-assisted drug delivery is key in a lot of the work that I do. Many lasers are not used in skin of color because of hyperpigmentation concerns. With the right treatment plans, though, we can use many of the same lasers in darker skin types safely to achieve excellent outcomes.

Subcision can be one part of a personalized, multi-step treatment plan for rolling and tethered scars. By carefully breaking up the fibrous bands that pull scars downward, we may help the skin appear smoother over time. In some cases, we also place small amounts of filler to support the skin and potentially reduce the chance of those bands reattaching.

Scars may tell a story, but they do not always reflect how you want to feel in your own skin. Here, we used laser-assisted drug delivery to support better absorption of topical medications. In combination with carefully placed steroid injections, this approach may help soften the scar and gradually blend it with the surrounding skin.
