Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is one of the leading causes of respiratory illness and hospitalization among infants and young children. This places a significant and often underestimated burden on families, clinical teams and health systems nationwide.

From emergency department surges to preventable inpatient admissions, RSV disease can also place additional pressure on health systems already managing complex and competing demands, which can drain resources and contribute to clinical staff burnout.

In this session, the U.S. RSV field medical director at Sanofi, a former pediatric infectious diseases clinician and professor emeritus at SUNY Upstate Medical University within the division of pediatric infectious disease, will examine the epidemiology and healthcare system impact of RSV.
