Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology

Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology Our mission is to increase access to trauma-informed, evidence-based, mindfulness-infused, and LGBTQ+ affirmative psychotherapy and psychological services.

Trauma, depression, anxiety, and other problems can have a tremendous impact on our ability to be productive and happy. Navigating the process of finding a therapist you can trust, who accepts your insurance or is affordable, and who you “click” with can add additional layers of stress when you are already struggling. Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology seeks to provide as much support as possi

ble during this process whether we end up working together or not. When you first reach out to us, therapists who work on our intake team will review your information and help match you with the best clinician for your needs. Intake will verify your insurance benefits or help connect you with reduced fee services if necessary. Once you are matched with someone, the clinician will reach out to arrange your first meeting and answer any questions you might have. All services are by appointment only.

😡 Anger often gets a bad reputation, but it is a completely natural emotion that carries valuable information about our boundaries and values. Healthy anger expression is not about explosive outbursts or suppressing how you feel. Instead, it involves pausing, identifying the vulnerable emotions underneath like hurt or fear, and communicating your needs respectfully.

At Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology, we help individuals and couples build mindfulness skills to navigate intense emotions and cultivate deeper, more authentic connections. If you are struggling with emotional regulation, conflict in your relationships, or communication challenges, therapy can provide a safe space to explore new ways forward.

Expressing anger in a healthy way begins with recognizing that anger itself is not a "bad" emotion, but rather a natural biological response that provides us

As the back-to-school season kicks into high gear, many parents notice a sudden shift in communication with their teenagers. Between adjusting to new academic demands, navigating social dynamics, and asserting their growing independence, teens often pull back and quiet down at home.

While taking space is a normal part of adolescent development, staying connected during times of transition is essential. As parents and caregivers, we can support our teens by validating their stress, offering a listening ear without judgment, and respecting their need for autonomy while keeping lines of communication open.

If your family is navigating difficult life transitions, communication hurdles, or mental health concerns, therapy can help foster understanding and connection. Reach out to Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology today to learn more about our compassionate, trauma-informed individual, family, and group therapy services.

Teens need their own space but they also need their parents. So while your teen is separating, you need to be carefully bridging the gap.

Nervous and stressed, but doing your best? 🫤

Sometimes naming our stress or nervousness can be enough to help us move through our thoughts and feelings — but coping skills such as mindful breathwork techniques, can better assist with regulating our thoughts and feelings even when we’re in a heightened emotional state.

Unexpected construction 🚧 has part of the sidewalk along Ridge Avenue tore up.

Please exercise caution while navigating the sidewalks around our office entrance this weekend.

We’ve been advised by city workers that repairs should be completed by next Tuesday!

Finding it hard to see eye to eye lately? You aren’t alone. Even the strongest couples hit communication roadblocks.

Instead of just “venting” to a friend or loved one, couple’s therapy can help clients learn how to decode each other’s underlying needs, improve emotional attunement, and work towards repair — when it’s something you’re both seeking. 🤍

Contact our intake team to learn which AMP team members currently have openings for new couples therapy clients — 📧 [email protected].

Expressing our internal thoughts and feelings can be challenging, especially for neurodivergent individuals navigating a world that often misinterprets how they communicate. In this insightful TED Talk, advocate and researcher Alix Generous shares her personal journey with autism, offering a witty and honest look at processing social anxiety, bridging communication gaps, and building technology to help neurodiverse minds thrive.

At Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology, we proudly offer neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed care that honors and celebrates unique ways of experiencing the world. Every mind functions differently, and learning to navigate life authentically starts with feeling heard and accepted for who you are.

If you or a loved one are seeking support in navigating neurodiversity, social anxiety, or communication challenges, reach out to AMP today to learn more about our affirming individual and group therapy services.

Alix Generous is a young woman with a million and one ideas -- she's done award-winning science, helped develop new technology and tells a darn good joke (you'll see). Even in a crowded room or a busy school hallway, many teenagers report feeling deeply isolated. While feeling lonely is a natural part of growing up, chronic loneliness can significantly impact a young person's emotional and physical well-being. This is especially true for LGBTQ+ youth, who face higher rates of social isolation due to a lack of safe, affirming spaces.

At Andersonville Mindfulness & Psychology, we believe every teen deserves to feel seen, understood, and supported for who they truly are. As parents and caregivers, we do not need to fix every painful feeling for our adolescents, but validating their experiences and helping them build meaningful, authentic connections makes a world of difference.

Read the full article below from the Child Mind Institute to learn more about the causes of teen loneliness and how you can offer supportive, non-judgmental guidance.
