Trauma disconnects us from creativity, play, and joy which are essential elements of healing and resilience. This engaging training with Cassie Walker, LCSW, CCTP m, explores how imagination, art, movement, storytelling, and other joy-centered practices can serve as powerful tools for trauma recovery. Grounded in liberatory and decolonial approaches, participants will discover new ways to foster connection, agency, and well-being in their work and communities in this 6 CEU virtual workshop.

Explore how chronic stress and trauma create allostatic load, impacting the brain, body, and long-term health across systems.

This event will be recorded and sent to all registered participants for those that can’t attend live. This workshop is for both mental health professionals and trauma survivors. You may choose to attend with your screen on or off based on your preferences.

With so much attention given to the nervous system, as a culture we have, again, over emphasized one process over all the others in terms of healing from trauma and regulating stress. This workshop explores the concept of allostatic load, which is the cumulative wear and tear on the body caused by chronic stress. We will examine how trauma can disrupt multiple biological systems over time. This workshop will connect theory to real-world experiences, helping attendees better understand how trauma is stored in the body and expressed across systems.

In this workshop, you will learn:
1    Understand the conecpt of Allostatic load and assess the potential load that trauma survivors carry.
2    Explore the 11 organ systems in the body and how trauma affects many of them, not just the nervous system.
3    Learn the importance of blending parts work, somatics, and medicine for a more systemic approach to healing.
