For the majority of us, COVID has brought deep decreases in patient numbers and revenue. Many of our POCA clinics were closed for months as we survived on loans and unemployment. We’ve reorganized and restructured our systems and we’ve been stretched, not only our ability to adapt but in maintaining the resilience required to continue providing affordable acupuncture in a community setting. Sadly, some CA clinics have closed for good. Social unrest, political upheaval, the fight for social justice combined with the implosion of our healthcare system has impacted all of us, some more than others. It’s been very difficult. Our stress, collectively and individually, as CA punks, has felt, at times, unbearable, overwhelming and isolating.
Why a Membership Drive now, of all times? Simply put, our CA clinics need patients as much as our patients need us. And, we all still need a professional organization (POCA) to push for change; in the legislature, in the acupuncture field, within the organization itself. And, we still need POCA to support clinics and the punks who work in them, our patients who use them and those who aim to open future CA clinics.
Community Acupuncture is as prevalent as it’s ever been, even more so, and we need your help.
