Gastrointestinal Research Foundation (GIRF) Associates’ Board Research Funding Opportunity

The GIRF Associates’ Board is pleased to once again offer this funding opportunity for small and/or pilot research projects in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. Grants up to $10,000 will be awarded to meritorious application

**New this year: Past recipients who have made extensive progress are invited to reapply for additional funding. Please follow additional instructions listed below.

All recipients of funding from the GIRF Associate Board must acknowledge the support of “The Gastrointestinal Research Foundation Associate Board” in all presentations and publications of data from the research funded. Applications must comply with instructions detailed below.

ELIGIBILITY:

· Fellows in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition, including those in advanced training programs

· Post-doctoral fellows or scholars

· Junior faculty who are in the first 4 years of their first faculty position

INSTRUCTIONS: Include the sections as outlined below. Font should be 11-point Arial, single-spaced, 1 inch margins. Use language understandable by a general, lay audience.
1. Specific Aims. Describe the aim(s) of the project. Not to exceed ½ page.
2. Research strategy. Describe the 1.) significance, 2.) innovation and 3.) approaches for your proposed project. Not to exceed 2 pages.
3. Budget and budget justification. Include the amount requested (up to $10,000) and how you will use the funds. This is important to determine whether you will be able to complete your research if partial funding is awarded. Not to exceed 1 page.
**4. Past recipients. Outline significant achievements and findings since previous award. Not to exceed ½ page
