Antihistamines
💊 Hydroxyzine, Doxylamine
MOA: H1 receptor antagonist; reduces anxiety and promotes sleep.
Dual Orexin Receptor Antagonists (DORAs)
💊 Daridorexant (Quviviq), Suvorexant (Balsomra), Dayvigo
MOA: Blocks orexin receptors that regulate wakefulness, promoting natural sleep cycles.
GABAergic Agents / Benzodiazepine Receptor Agonists
💊 Zolpidem, Eszopiclone, Sonata – (not always first-line)
MOA: Enhance GABA activity; reduce time to sleep onset and increase sleep duration.
Atypical Antipsychotics (used off-label)
💊 Quetiapine (Seroquel)
MOA: Antagonizes serotonin, dopamine, histamine, and adrenergic receptors
