🌙 Tired of Being Tired? Let’s Talk About Insomnia. 🌙

Sleep is more than rest—it's a cornerstone of your mental health. At Four Seasons Psychiatry, we know how frustrating and exhausting insomnia can be. Whether it’s difficulty falling asleep, frequent nighttime waking, or waking too early, chronic sleep issues often point to deeper concerns like anxiety, depression, trauma, or stress.

💤 The good news? Help is available.
We offer personalized treatment plans that may include therapy, lifestyle interventions, and medication when appropriate. For some, sleep medications can provide much-needed relief while we address the underlying causes.

🧪 Common Sleep Medications by Class/MOA:

Sedating Antidepressants (commonly used off label for insomnia)
💊 Trazodone, Mirtazapine (Remeron), Doxepin
MOA: Enhance serotonin/norepinephrine; promote sedation via antihistaminergic effects.

Antihistamines
💊 Hydroxyzine, Doxylamine
MOA: H1 receptor antagonist; reduces anxiety and promotes sleep.

Dual Orexin Receptor Antagonists (DORAs)
💊 Daridorexant (Quviviq), Suvorexant (Balsomra), Dayvigo
MOA: Blocks orexin receptors that regulate wakefulness, promoting natural sleep cycles.

GABAergic Agents / Benzodiazepine Receptor Agonists
💊 Zolpidem, Eszopiclone, Sonata – (not always first-line)
MOA: Enhance GABA activity; reduce time to sleep onset and increase sleep duration.

Atypical Antipsychotics (used off-label)
💊 Quetiapine (Seroquel)
MOA: Antagonizes serotonin, dopamine, histamine, and adrenergic receptors

📞 If insomnia is interfering with your quality of life, don’t wait. Request an initial appointment or call Four Seasons Psychiatry to schedule a consultation. Together, we’ll find a treatment that helps you rest, restore, and recharge. 🌿

🧠 Mental Health Matters: Let’s Talk About Alcohol Use 🍷🍻

Alcohol is deeply woven into many aspects of social life — celebrations, stress relief, even just relaxing at home. But when does use become misuse?

⚠️ Warning Signs of Alcohol Misuse:

+ Drinking more or longer than intended
+ Trouble cutting down or stopping
+ Neglecting responsibilities at work, school, or home
+ Using alcohol to cope with stress, anxiety, or depression
+ Continued use despite negative consequences
+ The line between occasional drinking and harmful use can blur quickly — and it’s okay to ask for help.

💊 Treatment Can Include Medication
If you’re trying to cut back or stop drinking, you're not alone — and you don't have to rely on willpower alone. There are safe, FDA-approved medications that can help reduce alcohol cravings or make drinking less rewarding. These include:

+ Naltrexone – helps reduce the pleasurable effects of alcohol
+ Acamprosate (Campral) – supports brain recovery and reduces cravings
+ Disulfiram (Antabuse) – discourages drinking by causing unpleasant effects when alcohol is consumed

Talk to a healthcare provider about whether medication-assisted treatment could be right for you.

💬 If you’re wondering whether your relationship with alcohol is affecting your mental health, you’re not alone. Support is available.

Conflicted about whether to reach out?
We get it. Taking that first step can feel overwhelming. You might be wondering if it’s really “that bad,” or if things will just sort themselves out with time. But if you’re here, reading this — maybe something inside you is already reaching out.

Let’s gently walk through the “what ifs” together:

🌀 What could go wrong?
– You might feel vulnerable.
– It might stir up emotions you’ve been holding back.
– You might not feel better right away.
– It might be hard to talk at first.

But also…

🌱 What could go right?
– You might finally feel heard.
– You could begin to understand yourself in new ways.
– You may find relief, hope, and direction.
– You could feel less alone.
– You might start to heal.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out. We’re here to meet you exactly where you are — no judgment, no pressure, just compassion and support.

✨ You’re not broken. You’re human.
And you don’t have to do this alone.

If you’re ready — even just a little — we’re here.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day weekend from all of us here, at Four Seasons Psych! 🌸

We celebrate the strength, love, and care of mothers everywhere. But we also recognize that Mother’s Day can bring up complicated emotions — not every family story is simple, and not every relationship is easy.

However you're feeling today — grateful, grieving, conflicted, or somewhere in between — your experience is valid. Be gentle with yourself, please!

We're here if you need support. 💙

🌿 Self-Care Isn’t Selfish — It’s Essential 🌿

Taking time for you is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. Whether it’s a 10-minute walk, a cozy cup of tea, saying “no” without guilt, or booking that therapy session you’ve been putting off — it all counts. 💛

✨ Here are a few simple ways to treat yourself with care today:
• Light your favorite candle and just breathe
• Take a screen break and enjoy a quiet moment
• Say something kind to yourself in the mirror
• Treat yourself to a good meal or your favorite snack
• Spend time doing something that brings you peace

💬 What’s one self-care activity that helps you reset?

🧠 Let’s Talk: ADHD, Depression & Anxiety – What You Might Not Know 🌪️

ADHD, depression, and anxiety often share symptoms like trouble concentrating, restlessness, fatigue, and irritability—making them easy to misdiagnose. What looks like laziness or moodiness might actually be untreated ADHD. And sometimes, anxiety or depression is masking deeper neurodivergence.

👩‍⚕️ Misdiagnosis is common, especially in women and adults, leading to years of frustration and untreated symptoms.

💡 The good news? With the right diagnosis, treatment—whether therapy, medication, or both—can be life-changing.

If this resonates, you're not alone. Get curious, not judgmental. 🫶
