You all SMASHED that save button with my last post with snack ideas… so I’m taking that as you want some more!😉

🥪🥙🍎🥜Love a good on-the-go snack that still pairs protein + fiber + fat + flavor for maximum fullness AND satisfaction! These are awesome to leave at work too for snacking between meals.

In my Intuitive Eating group, we spend a lot of time learning how to go for foods that give you lasting energy and fullness, as well as which combos do the trick for YOUR body.

🌟BONUS: I share LOTS of snack & meal ideas with the group because I want you to see alllllll the variety and fun foods that are out there when you’re not restricting, dieting, or scrutinizing every ingredient in the hopes of “eating clean.” ➡️ we also break down that subject but that’s for a different day!

🤗Want to learn how to eat in a way that’s NOT dieting? Grab a spot in my group (in bio) or DM me your questions. We start in ONE WEEK and we only have a few spots left!!!!!

💭To understand how to honor hunger, having an understanding of how our body uses and needs energy is key. Knowing the science also helps you to call out diet culture BS when you see it.

Energy is expended by our bodies in 3 ways:

1️⃣Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR): the energy used to do activities to keep our normal body functions going - things like the central nervous system, respiration, & maintaining an appropriate temperature. It's affected by a lot of different things, one of those things being, yep, chronic dieting.

🧠Look on the right side to see how our body composition affects RMR. As you can see, ~60% can be accounted for by what's called high-metabolic-rate-organs such as the liver and brain. However, we've internalized that our muscle/fat has a huge impact on our metabolism. Of course it does somewhat, but not as big as diet culture has us believe. Take this stat for example: athletes with greater fat free mass only have about a 5% quicker resting metabolism.

🌡Other things that impact our RMR are our age (⬇️ as we age), climate (⬆️ w/ temp), body size (larger bodies = ⬆️ metabolic rates), gender, hormonal status, temperature, stress, and things like caffeine, alcohol, and ni****ne.

2️⃣The next thing that our body uses energy for is the TEF: the energy needed to consume, digest, and absorb our food and store energy.

3️⃣Lastly, we expend energy in activity, which includes that used in exercise AND activities of daily living like shopping and cooking but also fidgeting, shivering, chewing, etc.

‼️HERE’S THE KICKER: This shows the reasons why you need enough food, but also a lot of weight loss programs will calculate your RMR and then tell you to eat less than that... so you not only meet your RMR needs but also not your AT/TEF needs. This is why your metabolism then shuts down + focus on doing everything it can to get you to EAT.

There IS a difference….

….between being aware and interested in the nutritional content of what you eat, and wanting to include nutrient-dense foods in a balanced way... and being fixated on eating in a certain way to the point that it damages your wellbeing (and oftentimes your health too).

❤️Do you.....
- Feel bad about yourself after eating certain foods?
- Feel like you need to compensate what you eat with exercise or dieting?
- Feel like you have more "bad" foods than "safe/good" foods?
- Feel like you're missing out on LIFE because of food rules?

👐Your relationship with food really might need some support right now if so.

You don't have to do this alone. How would it feel to be part of a safe, accepting group that can relate to how you feel? To learn and grow together, without judgment?

With my Real Good Intuitive Eating group, it's my main goal to create this environment for you to develop that balanced and happy relationship with food, and learn the tools to strengthen it on a daily basis.

📆We're starting again on Oct 12 - Link is in my bio to learn more and grab a spot.
