Herb + Ōhm is a luxury integrative medicine practice rooted in the wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, adapted to the needs of modern Chicagoans. Our practice nurtures the mind, body, and spirit through Acupuncture + Chinese Herbal Medicine, while recognizing the value and offerings of Western medicine. Additionally, we may also incorporate any of the following additional TCM methods as part of your acupuncture treatment, depending on your symptoms: Cupping, Moxibustion, Tui Na medicinal massage, and Gua Sha. Regardless of which healing method we use, the cornerstone of our approach is based on the idea of healing from the inside out: We treat the root to treat the branch. At Herb + Ōhm, we realize you may be new to acupuncture. At our practice, we bridge the gap between the familiar and the foreign. We appreciate the distinct advantages of Eastern and Western healing philosophies, while maintaining an optimum balance between the two. This synthesis creates maximum benefits + results for our patients.

Feeling overwhelmed? Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is make things a little simpler. 🌿

When your mind is racing, your to-do list feels endless, and everyone seems to need something from you, even the idea of relaxing can feel like one more thing to accomplish.

But supporting your mental well-being doesn't have to mean completely changing your routine.

Sometimes it's as simple as:

🌿 Taking a few slow breaths and allowing yourself a longer exhale.

🌿 Getting up and moving your body for a few minutes.

🌿 Writing down everything that's taking up space in your mind.

🌿 Turning off the notifications that don't need your immediate attention.

🌿 Choosing just ONE thing to focus on next.

Small, intentional moments throughout your day can help create a little breathing room when life feels especially full.

🤍 You don't have to do everything. You don't have to do it perfectly. And you certainly don't have to do it all at once.

Swipe through for five simple ways to feel a little less overwhelmed - and save this post for a day when your brain could use a reset.

✨ Which of these five could you use most today?

The mental load no one sees. 🤍

It's remembering the appointments, planning the meals, keeping track of everyone's schedules, answering the emails, and somehow knowing exactly what needs to happen next.

It's the endless list running through your mind - even when you're sitting still.

And sometimes, the most exhausting part of your day isn't what you've actually done. It's everything you've been mentally carrying.

We often measure how busy we are by how much we accomplish. But the invisible work of remembering, anticipating, organizing, and caring for everyone else takes energy, too.

🌿 A gentle reminder: You don't have to carry everything, all the time.

It's okay to delegate. It's okay to let something wait. And it's okay to give your mind a little breathing room without feeling like you should be doing something productive.

Because rest isn't just about giving your body a break. Sometimes, it's about giving your mind permission to be still.

✨ What's one thing you'd love to take off your mental checklist this week?

Ever feel like your body is stressed even when you're telling yourself you're fine? 🌿

Mental overload doesn't always look like racing thoughts or an endless to-do list. Sometimes, your body starts sending signals before you even realize how overwhelmed you've become.

Tight shoulders. Frequent headaches. Digestive discomfort. Restless nights. Feeling exhausted even after a full night's sleep.

Sound familiar?

Our minds and bodies are deeply connected, and when stress becomes a constant part of everyday life, its effects can extend far beyond our thoughts.

The tricky part? We're often so busy pushing through that we don't recognize the signs until they become difficult to ignore.

🤍 Your body deserves the same attention you give everything - and everyone else.

Swipe through to explore some of the physical ways mental overload can show up and why those signals are worth paying attention to.

✨ What's the first sign your body gives you when you're feeling overwhelmed?

Why does everything sometimes feel like… too much? 🌿

Mental overload isn’t always about one big stressful event. More often, it’s the accumulation of everything - the constant mental checklist, a nervous system that rarely gets a chance to slow down, disrupted sleep, hormonal shifts, and everyday habits or environments that keep your brain working overtime.

And sometimes the hardest part is that you’re still functioning. You’re getting things done. You’re showing up. But internally? Your brain may be working a whole lot harder than anyone can see.

Understanding what may be contributing to that overwhelmed feeling is a good place to start. You don’t necessarily need to overhaul your entire life - sometimes small, intentional shifts can create a little more breathing room. 🤍

Which one tends to affect you most - stress, mental load, hormones, sleep, or lifestyle?

Ever feel like your mind just… won’t turn off? 🌿

Mental overload can happen when your brain is trying to hold too many things at once – responsibilities, decisions, schedules, worries, unfinished tasks, and the never-ending mental checklist.

And while mental overload and anxiety aren’t exactly the same, they can overlap. Both can leave you feeling mentally drained, physically tense, distracted, exhausted, or like you’re having a hard time truly relaxing.

Sometimes the first step isn’t doing more to manage it. It’s recognizing just how much you’ve been carrying. 🤍

Throughout October, we’ll be talking more about anxiety + mental overload, how stress can show up in the body, and simple ways to support a calmer, more grounded you.

October is all about supporting how you feel AND how you move. 🌿

This month at Herb + Ōhm, we’re focusing on two concerns that can have a bigger impact on everyday life than we sometimes realize:

🧠 Anxiety + Mental Overload
When your mind feels like it has 37 tabs open, even the smallest things can start to feel like a lot. We’ll be talking about what mental overload can look like, what may contribute to it, and ways to support a calmer, more grounded you.

🌿 Lower Back Pain + Sciatica
From that nagging low-back ache to pain that travels down the leg, we’ll explore common symptoms and contributors, everyday habits that can help, and when it may be time to look a little deeper.

Two very different concerns, but the same philosophy: your symptoms don’t exist in isolation.

Throughout October, we’ll share how Herb + Ōhm approaches care with the whole person in mind.

A calmer mind. More comfortable movement. A more supported you. 🤍

Stay tuned - we have lots to talk about this month!

Strong looks different at every stage. 💪🌿

In honor of National Women’s Health & Fitness Day, we’re celebrating movement not just for what it helps us do today—but for how it can support our health for years to come.
And that includes our bones.

As women move through different stages of life, particularly the transition through menopause and beyond, protecting bone health becomes increasingly important. Regular weight-bearing and resistance exercise can help maintain bone density, while movement also supports muscle strength, balance, mobility, and coordination – all important pieces of staying strong and independent as we age.

But “strong” doesn’t have to mean pushing harder or doing more.

It can mean lifting weights. Taking a walk. Working on your balance. Choosing movement that feels good in your body. Nourishing yourself well. Resting when you need it. And giving your body the support it needs as those needs change. 🤍

At Herb + Ōhm, we believe healthy aging is about caring for the whole you—so you can keep moving, thriving, and doing the things you love at every stage.

Healthy women. Stronger tomorrows.

Supporting your bones and joints isn’t only about what happens in the treatment room. 🌿

Still living around your joint pain? It may be time to look deeper. 🌿

Joint pain isn’t always just about the joint itself. Inflammation, hormonal changes, previous injuries, repetitive use, daily habits, stress, sleep, nutrition, and other health factors can all play a role in how your body feels and moves.

That’s why simply quieting the pain doesn’t always tell the whole story.

At Herb + Ōhm, care starts with looking at the bigger picture – your health history, lifestyle, movement patterns, symptoms, and individual needs – to create a personalized approach designed to support your whole body.

Because the goal isn’t simply to get through the day with less discomfort. It’s to help you keep moving, participating, and doing more of what you love. 🤍

You deserve to move through life with less pain and more freedom.

Ready to look deeper? We’d love to help. 🌿

Joint pain isn’t always “just age.” 🌿

If your joints have started feeling different – more stiff, achy, or less cooperative than they used to – there may be more to the story.

Joint discomfort can be influenced by a combination of factors, including:

✨ Wear and tear over time
✨ Inflammation
✨ Hormonal changes
✨ Lifestyle factors
✨ Past injuries or repetitive use

And sometimes, the biggest clue isn’t simply where it hurts – it’s noticing that certain movements, activities, or everyday tasks are becoming harder than they used to be.

At Herb + Ōhm, we look at the bigger picture – your health history, lifestyle, movement patterns, stress, and other factors that may be contributing to how you feel – so care can be personalized to you.

Because getting older doesn’t automatically mean accepting pain and stiffness as your new normal. 🤍

Understanding what’s happening is the first step toward feeling better.
