This last week, our HOPE family said goodbye to a very special woman, our dear friend, Margaret.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of her passing. While our hearts grieve her absence, we are incredibly grateful for the time we were blessed to spend with her.

Margaret brought something truly special into our home. Her gentle spirit, radiant smile, and genuine love for life touched every person she met. She had a beautiful way of filling a room with joy, especially whenever the music began to play. We will always remember her dancing through our HOPE home and on outings wherever we went... her heart overflowing with happiness, reminding us all that life's sweetest moments are often found in a simple song and the freedom to dance.

Her light, her kindness, her grace, and her beautiful presence will forever remain a part of the story of HOPE. Though we will miss her deeply, we find comfort knowing that the love she shared continues to live on in the memories she created with all of us.

To Margaret's family, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of loving and caring for such an extraordinary woman. She will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

"You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing; You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy." — Psalm 30:11

Forever in our hearts, dear Margie. May you now dance with perfect joy in the presence of our Lord. ❤️

We were incredibly blessed to spend the afternoon at Cowpoke, Inc. in Magalia, California, with our wonderful Equine Specialist and gracious hostess, Brenda.

Brenda welcomed us with open arms as we experienced the calming, healing benefits of equine therapy. We learned about the remarkable dedication she has poured into serving our community over the past 30 years and witnessed firsthand the special bond between people and horses.

While we were saddened to learn that Brenda will be moving on after three decades of making a difference, we are so grateful for the opportunity to spend this meaningful time with her and her beautiful horses.

A heartfelt thank you to our sweet friend Valentine for letting us share in your gentle spirit. You reminded us just how powerful, comforting, and therapeutic the connection between humans and horses can be.

Thank you, Brenda, for your kindness, your years of service, and for creating such a beautiful experience. We wish you every blessing in your next adventure!

☀️🌲 Escaping the valley heat never felt so good!

Our HOPE family traded the summer heat of Chico for the cool mountain air at beautiful Cherry Hill Campground in Forest Ranch. Beneath the tall pine trees, we shared a delicious picnic, listened to the peaceful sounds of nature, and spent quality time together surrounded by the beauty of the forest. Such a great time exploring!

Some people don’t just volunteer… they become family.

Since the very first day of HOPE, Julie has shared her love, wisdom, faith, laughter, stories, and the beautiful reminder that even when memories fade, the spirit continues to shine. She has touched every guest, every family, and every heart here in ways words can never fully express.

Julie, thank you for giving so much of yourself to all of us. We love you beyond measure and are so grateful God brought you into our HOPE family.

Happy Birthday to you! 🎉💛

What is the Medicare GUIDE Program?

GUIDE stands for "Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience," a Medicare program created to support individuals living with dementia and the family members caring for them.

The program is designed to improve quality of life through services that may include:

💚 Dementia care coordination
💚 Caregiver education and support
💚 Access to respite care services
💚 Ongoing guidance and resources throughout the dementia journey

For eligible individuals, respite care benefits may be used to support programs such as adult day services, helping caregivers receive meaningful support while their loved one remains engaged in a structured and person-centered environment.

I am excited to share that I am now a certified Medicare GUIDE Assessor for HOPE Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care.

If you have a loved one living with dementia and would like to see whether they may qualify for participation through our HOPE program, I would welcome you to reach out. I can complete a GUIDE assessment specifically to determine eligibility for services through HOPE Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care. Please call to learn more or schedule an assessment.

💚 We are in this together. HOPE is here!

My heart is full as I share something very special happening at HOPE Alzheimer’s & Dementia Care.

Some time ago, we started what we call our MEMORY MAKERS FUND, a sponsorship program created to help seniors and families who may be experiencing financial hardship but would deeply benefit from meaningful engagement and attending our program.

Today, we are honored to share that our first sponsorship has already been given.

Because of the generosity of one incredible individual, one of our guests was able to continue receiving support, companionship, purpose, and wonderful moments during a season when attendance may not have otherwise been possible.

We are keeping this sponsor private at their request, but we want to publicly express our deepest gratitude. Your kindness created something much bigger than financial support… you created relief, dignity, memories, and hope!

Community care means the world to us, and sometimes the most meaningful gifts are the ones given quietly.

If becoming part of our Memory Makers Fund speaks to your heart and you would like to sponsor a senior or learn more, please reach out to us.

Together, we can continue creating meaningful moments for families who need them most. Thank you!

Warmly,
Jessica Bernhardt, RN, CDP
