Are you interested in trying yoga but a large group practice in a studio setting feels intimidating? This June yoga instructor and physical therapist Erin Yankovec, DPT will be leading a three-class series at our physical therapy center focusing on the low back. The course will include low back mobility, deep core activation, and hip strength progressing from beginner to intermediate level over the series. You can expect instruction that focuses on alignment, modifications, and individualized assistance to help beginners feel supported and confident in the poses. Pacing will be slow and intentional. The cost is $20 per class, call or email our center to pre-register.

For the twelfth day of stretching Liza is here to show you Extended Child’s Pose. Also known as Utthita Balasana in Sanskrit, this stretch is a foundational yoga posture, but you don’t have to be a yogi to enjoy its benefits. In addition to offering a full body stretch that hits back and glutes, this posture can be deeply relaxing, supporting your mental wellbeing too.

We hope you enjoy this final stretch and take a few minutes to pause during this busy time of year to give it a try. To all who have followed along, thanks for joining us for the 12 Days of Stretching!

Happy Monday of Christmas Week! Today and tomorrow we’re sharing our last two stretches. For day eleven of stretching Anna will show you a stretch for your QL.

If you have low back pain this could be a helpful addition to your pain management routine. Try it alongside the doorway pec stretch from day two for postural support that’s as simple as finding a doorway 🚪

Happy Friday! For the tenth day of stretching Erin will show you two versions of a piriformis stretch.

This muscle sits deep in the pelvis and lies next to (or sometimes around) the sciatic nerve. Runners and desk workers alike can benefit from stretching piriformis to prevent pain and stiffness and optimize movement.

Carrying heavy luggage during your holiday travels? Take a stretch break and show your arms some love. Also give it a try after arm day at the gym, it’s a great way to prevent injury 💪

For the eighth day of stretching Heather will show you two stretches for muscles on the front of your neck: platysma and sternocleidomastoid.

These stretches can help with neck tension and discomfort, especially if you tend to have forward head posture. Try pairing them with the levator scap and upper trap stretches from day one for a well-rounded neck stretch routine.
