Enloe Health is proud to donate $10,000 to the Paradise High School football team as the Bobcats prepare for a meaningful trip to Maui, Hawaii, to face Lahainaluna High School on Sept. 5.

Known as the Unity Bowl, the game will bring together two communities rebuilding after devastating wildfires: Paradise, following the 2018 Camp Fire, and Lahaina, following the 2023 Maui wildfires.

“Enloe Health is proud to support these student athletes and the Paradise community as they take part in an experience rooted in healing, connection, and hope,” said Mike Wiltermood, president and CEO at Enloe Health. “Paradise has shown incredible strength in the years since the Camp Fire, and this trip is a powerful reminder of what can happen when communities lift each other up.”

West Nile Virus (WNV) is an illness carried by mosquitoes and passed on to people. It’s most common from June through September and can cause flu-like symptoms and even lead to death in some cases.

Stay safe from WNV by:
• Wearing long sleeves and pants when mosquitoes are most active: dawn and dusk.
• Wearing insect repellent when outdoors. Look for repellents with DEET, which will provide longer-lasting protection.
• Emptying standing water from household items like gutters, buckets and flower pots.
• Repairing any damaged screens you have on doors or windows.
• Using air conditioning if you have it.
