Robin King Sigel

Born on August 17, 1948, in Palo Alto to Dr. Robbins (Bob) and Mary King, Robin moved to Chico in 1956. As the eldest of four siblings—Steve, Stuart, and Barbara—she grew up with Lower Bidwell Park as her backyard, spending countless hours exploring its trails, swimming and riding her beloved horse, Riego and later Cholla. An accomplished swimmer, she competed with the Chico Aqua Jets and spent her summers serving as a lifeguard at local pools. A proud graduate of the Chico Senior High Class of 1966 with lifelong friendships with the "Chicks of 66"—she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from the University of Oregon--Go Ducks!

After college, Robin returned to Chico and reunited with her high school sweetheart, Dave. They rekindled their flame and were married on March 31, 1974. In 1977, they moved back to Eugene while Dave completed his Master of Fine Arts degree. It was there they formed an inseparable bond with a group known as the "14th Place Irregulars." These dear friends remained central to her life for decades, sharing in growing families, world travels, and cherished reunions.

Robin’s career was a testament to her devotion to others. Whether serving as a Health Aide for local schools or spending three decades as the familiar, comforting face at Dr. Paul Wasserman’s pediatric office, Robin was a pillar of support for the community. She found her greatest professional fulfillment in caring for children and providing a steady, compassionate hand for their families.

An enthusiast of the great outdoors, Robin was happiest in nature. She was often found on the golf course, for many years she was a member of Bidwell Women's Golf Club or hiking trails—both big and small—and was a dedicated fan of the San Francisco Giants, rarely missing a chance to cheer on her team. In recent years, she was a familiar and welcome face at the local gym pool. There, she and Dave built a wonderful community of close friends, sharing laughter and companionship both in and out of the water.

Despite her many professional contributions and active lifestyle, Robin’s greatest source of pride and achievement was her family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she poured her heart into creating a home filled with warmth and laughter. Her 52-year marriage to Dave was the bedrock of her life, and her role as a mother and grandmother was where she felt most fulfilled.

She is survived by her husband, Dave Sigel; her children, Jesse, Leah (Endre), and Brett (Kaylan); her beloved grandson, Cohen; and her siblings and many neices and nephews. Her legacy of love, service, and adventure will live on through all who knew her.

In remembrance of Robin’s love for the outdoors, please consider making a donation to The Nature Conservancy or an organization of your choice in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Creekside Rose Garden in Chico, CA on Sunday June 28th at 1pm.

Join us on Memorial Day at 10:00am as we remember and honor our fallen service members and veterans. We will start with a flyover at Chico Cemetery followed by a full presentation with laying of the wreathes, a live band, speeches and presentation of the colors. We will follow up with a shorter but just as important service at Glen Oaks Memorial Park at 2:00pm with speeches, bag pipers, ice cream from Ridge Top Parlor, and playing of taps. We are excited for another eventful year and look forward to seeing everyone at the cemetery.
