July is Sarcoma and Bone Cancer Awareness Month—a time to bring greater attention to rare cancers that can begin in the bones or connective tissues, including muscles, fat, nerves, blood vessels and cartilage.

Symptoms such as a new or growing lump, unexplained bone pain, swelling near a bone or joint, or a fracture following minimal trauma can have many possible causes. However, persistent or unusual changes should always be discussed with a healthcare provider.

Greater awareness can encourage earlier conversations, support continued research and help patients and families feel less alone throughout their cancer journey.

We’d like to take a moment to recognize someone truly special on our team, Mendi.

Mendi’s journey with Valor Oncology is a powerful reflection of resilience and purpose. She first came to us as a patient, later joined our team as a Radiation Therapy Aide, and has since grown into a vital leadership role. Today, she serves as Radiation Therapy Supervisor for our Redding and Chico centers, as well as Office Manager in Chico.

In her roles, Mendi helps guide staff and patient scheduling, strengthens operational efficiency, and, most importantly, champions a patient-first approach in all that she does. She has a natural ability to connect people, anticipate challenges, and step in wherever there is a need.

Mendi, your dedication, strength, and steady leadership make a meaningful difference every day. We are grateful for the heart and commitment you bring to our team and the patients we serve.
