Juneteenth is a day of recognition and celebration. As mental health professionals, Juneteenth also serves as a powerful reminder to acknowledge and challenge ongoing racial inequities in mental healthcare, particularly those affecting Black communities.

People who struggle with mental health in Black communities face systematic issues that result in higher rates of discrimination, lack of access to care, lower quality care, and misdiagnosis. Black communities are also met with higher rates of violence or incarceration during mental health crises. Black people who struggle with mental illness deserve to be met with care, not with harm.

Our team is dedicated to ensuring every one of our patients feels welcomed, seen, and heard. Our providers have a passion for bridging the gap in access to mental healthcare in marginalized communities.

If you are struggling, please call us at 740-774-3440 to schedule. We care. ❤️

This June, as mental health professionals who care for our community, we want to bring awareness to important issues plaguing the LGBTQIA+ community. While there are many who struggle with mental illness, LGBTQIA+ individuals experience higher rates of stigma, discrimination, and other contributing factors that can lead to, or worsen, mental health struggles.

Statistics surrounding mental health in the LGBTQ+ community are alarming:

LGBTQIA+ youth are nearly 4x more likely to attempt su***de than heterosexual youth.

Transgender adults are nearly 9x more likely to attempt su***de at some point in their lifetime compared to the general population.

Hate crimes against LGBTQIA+ people rose 112% from 2015 to 2025.

LGBTQIA+ people are 9x more likely than non-LGBTQIA+ people to be victims of violent hate crimes, with a disproportionate number of these crimes being perpetrated against black, transgender women.

Everyone deserves access to quality mental health care. Together we can bring awareness, help, and support to those in the LGBTQIA+ community who struggle with mental health conditions. Remember even the smallest show of support can make a difference.

At Insight, we are proud to say we value staying educated on the latest research in psychiatry to provide the best care for patients. Our providers utilize a wide variety of resources and educational material to ensure they’re staying well-rounded and up-to-date on the newest evidence.

This includes educational materials such as The Carlat Psychiatry Report’s podcast! Operating as a medical education company that provides mental health professionals unbiased, practical, and evidence-based clinical guidance. Our providers have found this podcast led by Dr. Chris Aiken to be very educational in the ever-expanding field of psychiatry!

In fact, they were honored to meet Dr. Aiken and Dr. Carlat at the APA Annual Conference in May!
