Congratulations on the opening of the James Hagen Crisis Care Center, a resource that will make a lasting difference for individuals and families throughout our region!

With 24/7 access to mental health assessment and stabilization, including 23-hour observation, a Crisis Stabilization Unit for short-term inpatient care, and mobile crisis response, this center will help ensure that compassionate behavioral health support is available when it's needed most. At Mares Cares Counseling, we know that timely access to care can change lives. Seeing our community continue to invest in behavioral health is something worth celebrating!

We are especially honored that this center bears the name of James Hagen, a respected community leader and former member of the Mares Cares Counseling Advisory Board. His dedication to serving others and strengthening our community has left a lasting impact, and this recognition is a fitting tribute to his legacy.

Congratulations to everyone whose vision, hard work, and collaboration made this possible! Thank you for helping create a stronger, healthier future for our community!

Happy Parents Day to the people who show up with love, patience, and everything they've got. Parenting doesn't come with a script. It's built in the everyday moments and the countless little acts of love that often go unnoticed.

To every parent, grandparent, foster parent, adoptive parent, stepparent, guardian, and every person who has stepped into the role of caring for a child: thank you. The love, guidance, and consistency you give today helps shape tomorrow. And if parenting feels messy or overwhelming right now, remember that you don't have to be perfect to make a lasting difference! Showing up, loving deeply, and trying again each day matters more than you know.

Memorial Day began as “Decoration Day” in 1868, when communities gathered to decorate the graves of those who died in military service. But the roots of remembrance reach even deeper, from formerly enslaved people in Charleston honoring fallen Union soldiers in 1865 to towns across America pausing to grieve, honor, and remember. Today, Memorial Day is a day to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and lives of the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

As President Harry S. Truman once said, “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”

Memorial Day honors those who died while serving. Veterans Day honors all who have served.

This holiday carries deep meaning for many veterans, military families, and loved ones who continue to mourn those they’ve lost.

Today, we invite you to observe with intention:
🇺🇸 Wear a poppy in remembrance
🇺🇸 Visit or volunteer at a cemetery or memorial
🇺🇸 Fly the flag at half-staff until noon
🇺🇸 Pause for a moment of silence at 3 PM local time
