This is our fourth Ironman race and the first full we’ve made it to and the E N E R G Y at these events is just incredible.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—always, always take the opportunity to surround yourself with people who inspire you and make you ask yourself WHY NOT ME.

Even if those people are doing something that you don’t necessarily want to do yourself, seeing the positive attitudes and inspiring stories can carry over to ANY space in your life.

Also everyone tell my brother congratulations if you see him—he not only completed his second Ironman but made the podium in his age group. Really proud of that guy and the dedication he’s put into this sport 🤍

LIFE Update!

People keep asking and the answer is yes! We are home!

For awhile ☺️

After 1.5 years of travel and a lot of very clear feelings from our kiddos, we decided to take a contract semi local to the home we own and spend some time reevaluating and relaxing near family.

Honestly…we had planned to stay in Oregon longer but contract negotiations didn’t pan out and in the end I think it turned out how it was supposed to.

The girls and I have now completed TWO cross country drives, we got to visit Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, and now we have been settling into our house again and going through 1.5 years of junk we dumped in our garage 🤪

Right now this feels really GOOD. My parents opened a new restaurant which I’ve been helping with, I’ve gotten approached for more content and writing opportunities, and doing everything ourselves all the time was getting overwhelming.

Excited to see where the next year takes us personally and professionally, and so proud of our girls and how well they roll with the crazy 🤍

Tears and giggles

Frustration and awe

Discouragement and joy

This season is full of extremes. Whether it’s the kids crying or me feeling defeated at my current ability level or Keaton’s difficult choice to cut a hike short for everyone’s sanity…

It’s usually followed up by giggles, the best kind of sore muscles, and a feeling of pure joy and freedom that comes from experiencing some of the best things our country has to offer.

We always joke that we plan a trip and then do about 1/3 of what we’d like to do. And for a long time that was hard. Like really hard.

But now that we set our expectations low and choose to laugh more than bicker and go out of our way to remind ourselves we’re on the same team

These moments get sweeter.

This is a season and we’re in the thick of it but I know that showing our kids how to be active and independent and adventurous is something I’ll never regret.

Even if sometimes I regret it halfway up a 2 mile incline 😉
