What a Session Looks Like for Someone Living With Pain

If you're living with persistent pain, trying something new can feel intimidating—especially when you're not sure what to expect.

A Craniosacral Therapy (CST) session is designed to be calm, gentle, and unhurried. We take things one step at a time:

We talk first. We listen to your history, current concerns, and existing medical plan.

We help you get comfortable. You remain fully clothed, and we make sure you're well positioned on the treatment table.

The touch is gentle. CST uses light, hands-on contact—no forceful manipulation.

We pause and listen. You're given time to rest, and we work at whatever pace feels right for you.

Beside Your Specialist, Never in Place of Them. 💙

When you're living with persistent pain, having the right people on your care team matters.

Your pain management specialist leads your medical care, including evaluating your condition and guiding your treatment plan. Our role is different, but we share the same goal: supporting your comfort and overall well-being.

CST is a gentle, hands-on approach that complements your existing care by promoting relaxation and easing physical tension. We don’t diagnose medical conditions, change prescribed treatments, or replace the care provided by your physician.

We believe supportive care works best when everyone understands their role and respects the professionals already involved in your recovery.

Your medical team leads the plan. We're here to support you along the way. 💙

Have questions about how CST may fit alongside your current care? Send us a message. We'd be happy to talk with you!

Who Are Pain Management Specialists? Living with persistent pain is challenging, and having the right people on your care team can make a real difference.

Pain management specialists are physicians trained to evaluate complex pain, identify possible causes, and guide treatment options that fit your needs. As part of your overall care plan, they may recommend medications, procedures, or other approaches.

They also help coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, so that each provider understands their role and works toward shared goals.

At Craniosacral Therapy by Tomas Cernansky, we respect the expertise of your pain management specialist. Our role is to offer gentle, complementary support that helps promote relaxation and physical comfort. It is not intended to replace medical treatment or change your prescribed plan.

Your specialist leads the medical plan, and we’re here to support the care team around you.

Have you ever felt tired but still found it difficult to relax? Sometimes, even when we want to slow down, our bodies can feel tense or restless.

Stress, daily demands, and ongoing discomfort can make it harder to feel at ease. Taking time to pause and allowing the body to rest can be an important part of supporting overall well-being.

✨ How can Craniosacral Therapy help?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) uses gentle, light touch in a calm setting. Many clients describe feeling calmer, lighter, and more present after a session. Experiences vary, but CST may offer supportive care for relaxation, physical comfort, and easing tension.

A relaxed body may also make it easier to engage in other aspects of your wellness journey, including the work you do with your existing healthcare providers.

💙 You don't always have to push harder. Sometimes, giving yourself space to rest is a meaningful step toward caring for yourself.

CST is complementary care and does not replace medical evaluation, mental health support, or prescribed treatment.

📩 Curious about what a CST session feels like? Send us a message—we'd be happy to answer your questions!

Who Are Mental Health Professionals? 💙

Mental well-being deserves thoughtful care, understanding, and the right professional support.

Mental health professionals come from different backgrounds, and each plays a unique role in helping individuals navigate life's challenges.

✨ Here’s how they help:

🗣️ Therapists help individuals explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing healthy coping strategies.

🤝 Counselors provide guidance and emotional support through personal, family, and life challenges.

🧠 Psychologists assess and support mental health through psychological evaluations and evidence-based approaches.

🩺 Psychiatrists are medical doctors who diagnose and treat mental health conditions and may prescribe medication when appropriate.

💙 Social Workers connect individuals and families with resources, practical assistance, and supportive services.

Every professional brings valuable expertise to a person's care journey. Depending on individual needs, working with more than one provider can help create a more comprehensive support system.

At Craniosacral Therapy by Tomas Cernansky, we deeply respect the work of mental health professionals. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) may offer a gentle, complementary approach to physical comfort and relaxation, working alongside—not replacing—mental health counseling, medical care, or prescribed treatment.

Because caring for the whole person means recognizing that different needs may call for different kinds of support. 💙

Have you noticed your jaw tightening when you’re stressed, your shoulders tensing when you’re worried, or your sleep becoming restless during emotionally difficult times?

Stress and emotional strain can affect the body in different ways. Muscle tension, changes in breathing, and difficulty relaxing are examples of possible physical responses.

Mental health professionals help you navigate your thoughts, emotions, and mental well-being.

Body-based supportive care, such as Craniosacral Therapy (CST), may offer a gentle, complementary approach to supporting relaxation, physical comfort, and relief from muscle tension.

When appropriate, these approaches can complement one another, supporting both mental and physical well-being.

Mind care and body care don’t have to be separate. The right support depends on your individual needs and circumstances.

CST is complementary care. It does not replace mental health counseling, medical evaluation, or prescribed treatment.

Curious about whether CST may complement your existing care? Send us a message—we’d be happy to answer your questions!

Understanding the Partnership: Mind and Body

Mental well-being and physical well-being are more closely connected than we sometimes realize.

Stress can appear in the body as muscle tension, shallow breathing, or difficulty relaxing. Supporting overall well-being may therefore involve addressing both the emotional and physical aspects of a person’s experience.

Mental health professionals play an essential role in providing appropriate assessment, guidance, and treatment.

Craniosacral therapy may offer an additional layer of gentle, body-based support by encouraging relaxation, easing physical tension, and promoting a sense of comfort.

The goal is collaboration, not replacement.

Craniosacral therapy is intended to complement mental health care—not take the place of therapy, medical treatment, or professional guidance.

Every person’s needs are different. If you are working with a mental health professional and are curious about complementary support, we welcome the opportunity to discuss whether craniosacral therapy may be appropriate for you.

Common Concerns That May Benefit From Both 💙

Some concerns can involve more than one layer of the body—especially when tension, movement, comfort, and nervous-system regulation overlap.

Craniosacral Therapy and Physical Therapy have different roles, but they can sometimes be part of a broader, coordinated approach to care.

CST may support comfort, relaxation, and nervous-system regulation, while physical therapy focuses on strength, mobility, alignment, and function.

They may be considered together for concerns such as:
• Neck, shoulder, and jaw tension
• Headaches and head-related discomfort
• Recovery after a concussion (with physician clearance)
• Long-standing patterns of physical tension
• Stress-related muscular holding

The goal isn't to replace one approach with another. It's about understanding that different providers can address different aspects of your recovery.

Every person is different, and CST may not be appropriate for every condition. Always consult your healthcare providers about the right plan for your situation.

If you're currently working with a physical therapist or other healthcare professional and are curious about complementary care, we'd be happy to discuss how CST may fit alongside your existing plan.

Myth: Does CST replace physical therapy?

Let’s clear that up.

Craniosacral therapy and physical therapy serve different roles—and one is not intended to replace the other.

Physical therapy provides structured rehabilitation focused on movement, strength, mobility, and function. Craniosacral therapy is complementary care that may support relaxation, ease tension, and help you feel more comfortable and ready to participate in your existing care plan.

If you are working with a physical therapist, your prescribed exercises and rehabilitation plan remain an essential part of your recovery.

Think of craniosacral therapy as another layer of support—not a replacement for the care you already need.

Clear expectations matter. So does having a care team that works together.

If you are curious about how craniosacral therapy may fit alongside your current treatment plan, send us a message—we would be happy to talk with you.
