Could physical therapy help you avoid surgery?

When you're dealing with persistent pain, joint problems, or an injury that just won't seem to heal, surgery might feel like your only option. But here's something worth knowing: For some conditions, physical therapy can be just as effective as surgery in reducing pain and improving function!

Physical therapy can help you:

✅ Reduce pain and improve everyday comfort.
✅ Build strength and stability to better support your joints.
✅ Improve mobility and flexibility so you can keep doing the activities you enjoy.
✅ Explore nonsurgical treatment options that may help you avoid an unnecessary procedure.

In fact, research has shown that for certain conditions, including some rotator cuff tears and knee problems, physical therapy can provide meaningful improvements without surgery.

Jeff Jankowski, DPT, ATC, President of Valir Physical Therapy/Oklahoma, discusses how trying physical therapy first may help some patients avoid elective surgery, along with the recovery time and expenses that can come with it.

Before you consider surgery, find out what physical therapy might be able to do for you! With 39 H2 Health, Excel Therapy, and Valir Physical Therapy clinics across Oklahoma, we're here to help!

Physical therapy is not a substitute for every surgical procedure. Treatment options depend on your individual condition and medical needs.

Did you know you can see a physical therapist in Oklahoma WITHOUT a doctor's referral?

That's right! You don't have to wait to start feeling better!

Whether you're dealing with a new injury, persistent pain, or difficulty moving the way you want, Oklahoma's direct access law allows you to see a physical therapist for up to 30 days without a physician's referral.

That means you can get answers, begin a personalized treatment plan, and take the first steps toward feeling better sooner! And there's good reason not to wait! Research highlighted by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) shows that patients who received early physical therapy for low back pain had 43% lower odds of needing advanced imaging and 49% lower odds of an emergency room visit within 30 days compared with those who didn't receive early PT.

Why wait to start feeling better? With 39 H2 Health, Excel Therapy, and Valir Physical Therapy clinics across Oklahoma, we're here to help!

Is your desk job becoming a pain in the neck… or back? Spending hours at a desk can take a toll on your body. But sometimes, a few simple adjustments to your workspace can make a big difference!

Did you know? Research reviewed by the CDC's National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) found that sit-to-stand desks can help reduce prolonged sitting and may improve physical discomfort. And taking short breaks throughout the workday can help reduce discomfort associated with computer use.

An ergonomic assessment can help:

✅ Reduce neck, back, and shoulder strain by improving your workstation setup.
✅ Improve posture and positioning with adjustments to your desk, chair, monitor, and keyboard.
✅ Move more throughout the day by learning when to alternate between sitting and standing.
✅ Identify opportunities to prevent discomfort associated with repetitive movements and prolonged positions.
✅ Find practical, personalized solutions to make working and everyday activities more comfortable.

🎥 Watch our video for a few simple tips on setting up your standing desk, positioning your monitor and keyboard, and making movement part of the workday.

Your workspace should work for YOU, not against you! An Ergonomic Assessment from our Healthforce team can help you identify changes that may improve comfort, mobility, and overall well-being of employees in your workplace. Contact us to learn more or schedule an ergonomic assessment.
