Blood Bank of Delmarva is a non-profit community service organization that provides blood and blood products to 19 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula. More than 79,000 blood donations are needed in this area each year for about 20,000 patients across the Delmarva Peninsula. Blood Bank of Delmarva merged with New York Blood Center Enterprise (NYBCe) in August 2019. With donation centers and blood

Jaxon was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Shone’s Complex, two congenital heart defects that required multiple open-heart surgeries, life support, and countless blood transfusions.

Today, he’s a thriving and energetic third grader. To celebrate his resilience, friends and neighbors recently came together to host a local blood drive, proudly rolling up their sleeves in his honor.

Jaxon’s journey reminds us that blood donation brings comfort, strength, and hope during life’s most difficult moments.

🩸🏁 We’re just one month away from the 21st annual 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive with Dover Motor Speedway — a special tradition that brings our community together to remember, honor, and give back.

For more than a decade, Terence has been a familiar face to our team. ❤️🩸 He began as a whole blood donor, but after learning that platelet donations can help even more patients and can be given more frequently, he decided to make the switch.

Today, Terence donates platelets every few weeks because he understands the critical role they play for patients battling cancer and undergoing organ transplants.

For Terence, donating isn't just something he does — it's become a meaningful part of his life and his way of making a difference.

A big thank you to Jen and her mom, Heather, for rolling up their sleeves together this summer at our Christiana Donor Center!

Jen came in with one simple goal: to save lives. She also encouraged her mom to donate blood for the very first time. Fortunately, Heather said, "It didn't take much convincing!"

We love seeing family members inspire one another to make a difference ❤️

"Honestly, I just wanted to do something that was new and good for the community."

With a donor center conveniently located near his home home, Lamar decided it was the perfect time to make his first blood donation. The best part? He said he had a great experience that he's already looking forward to coming back and donating again.

Only about 3% of the eligible population donates blood, making first-time donors like Lamar critical for a healthy and stable blood supply.

Joe started donating blood when he was just 22 years old, faithfully giving at his workplace blood drives for years. But when he started a new job, donating simply fell out of his routine.

Nearly 20 years later, Joe realized how long it had been and decided it was time to come back. Now, as an O+ double red cell donor, he donates every 112 days like clockwork.

Joe's story is a reminder that it's never too late to start again. Whether it's been a few months or a few decades, your donation can make a lifesaving difference. Thank you, Joe, for your commitment to helping patients in need. We're so glad to have you back! ❤️

Divine's journey to becoming a blood donor didn't happen on the first try. She first attempted to donate at a school blood drive but wasn't able to because her iron levels were a bit too low. Instead of letting that discourage her, Divine made it her goal to come back and try again.

This visit, she reached that goal and successfully made her first blood donation! 🎉

Even better, Divine says she plans to keep coming back to donate in the future.

Congratulations on your first donation, Divine! Thank you for not giving up and for choosing to make a lifesaving difference. Your first donation is just the beginning of an incredible journey of helping others.
