💧 Water is more than just a drink, it’s one of your kidneys’ best defenses.

Your kidneys work 24/7 to filter waste, remove excess fluids, and keep your body in balance. But they need enough water to do their job efficiently.

When you’re dehydrated, your kidneys have to work harder, increasing the risk of kidney stones, urinary tract infections, and, over time, kidney damage. Staying hydrated helps your kidneys filter waste more effectively and supports your overall health.

Don’t wait until you’re thirsty. Make hydration a daily habit and give your kidneys the support they deserve.

Most people find out they have kidney disease at Stage 3, when they've already lost half their kidney function. 😔
Here are the 5 stages and what each one means for you:
🟢 Stage 1, eGFR 90+ Kidney damage present but function is normal. No symptoms. Best time to act.
🟡 Stage 2, eGFR 60–89, Mildly reduced. Still no symptoms. Lifestyle changes here make the biggest difference.
🟠 Stage 3, eGFR 30–59, The turning point. Symptoms may begin. Specialist care is now essential.
🔴 Stage 4, eGFR 15–29, Severely reduced. Dialysis or transplant planning begins here.
⬛ Stage 5, eGFR below 15, Kidney failure. Dialysis, transplant, or conservative care.
The earlier you know your stage, the more you can do about it. 💙
Save this. Share it with someone who has been told their kidneys are "a bit low" they deserve to know what that actually means.

Most people think about exercise for weight loss or fitness. But your heart and kidneys are quietly keeping score of every single session, and every day you don't move.

H𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝘀:
🫀 For your heart: Regular moderate exercise lowers blood pressure, reduces bad cholesterol, strengthens the heart muscle, and cuts cardiovascular disease risk by up to 35%. Even 30 minutes of brisk walking five days a week produces measurable cardiac improvements within weeks.
🫘 For your kidneys: Exercise improves blood flow to the kidneys, helps control blood pressure and blood sugar, the two leading causes of kidney failure, and reduces inflammation that accelerates CKD progression. Studies show physically active people with CKD progress to kidney failure significantly slower than sedentary patients at the same stage.

🩸 1. Control your blood pressure, it's the #1 thing you can do
High blood pressure is the second leading cause of kidney failure worldwide. It silently damages the tiny blood vessels inside your kidneys over years, reducing their filtering ability long before you feel anything. Target: below 130/80 mmHg. Cut sodium, move daily, and if you're on medication, take it consistently. This single habit does more for kidney longevity than almost anything else.

💧 2. Stay hydrated, but not excessively
Water helps your kidneys flush waste and prevents kidney stones from forming. Aim for pale yellow urine as your guide, that's the right hydration level for most healthy adults. The common "8 glasses a day" rule is oversimplified. If you have CKD Stage 3 or above, or heart failure, your fluid intake may need to be restricted, so always check with your specialist before dramatically increasing water intake.

👩⚕️ 3. Get tested before you feel anything
90% of people with chronic kidney disease have no symptoms until significant damage is already done. Two simple tests, an eGFR blood test and a uACR urine test, can detect kidney damage years before any symptoms appear. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, or a family history of kidney disease, you should be tested annually. Don't wait for pain. Kidneys don't give much warning.
