The Southcentral Foundation Research department is looking for volunteers to give feedback on a new approach. We want to know your thoughts on using a blood test that can help people quit smoking.

You may be eligible to take part if you:
• Are Alaska Native and/or American Indian
• Are 18 years or older
• Smoke ci******es
• Are interested in quitting to***co

If you take part in the study, you may receive up to $325 in gift cards, depending on the number of study visits completed. Your participation is voluntary, confidential, and will not affect your care at Southcentral Foundation in any way.

With reports of influenza A numbers in Alaska increasing earlier than usual, now is a good time to develop a winning game plan. As always, your best defense against all respiratory viruses is a good offense.

In addition to getting vaccinated, hand washing is one of the best ways to prevent infection with influenza A and other respiratory viruses.

• Wash your hands often
• Avoid touching your face especially your eyes, nose and mouth
• Cover your coughs and sneezes
• Stay home and avoid others if you are sick
• Wear a mask if you must be in public

Talk to your primary care team about getting a flu vaccine today. Gear up and be well!
