Happy International Women’s Day. I loved what they did with the movie The Marvels with amazing actresses. I also wanted to use this day to give a shout out to my dear friend .ria who not only is an inspiration but designed the logo for Gather Your Strength Counseling. Thank you for helping me make the dream come true!

Star Trek Episode 202 Ad astra per aspera is one of my favorite episodes that models the fight and the need for equality. All of the actors did a phenomenal job. Props to for a stellar performance as Neera fought a fair fight in the courtroom while highlighting the consequences of prejudice behaviors. So good!

Happy National Pokemon Day! As you are starting your mental health journey, make sure you find a mental health provider that works for you. Give yourself and the provider a chance to see if the two of you are the right fit for each other. If not, that’s ok, work together to seek out a provider that would be a good fit. When you are getting ready to start your Pokemon journey, how much time or research do you put in before you choose your starter? You should put just as much effort (if not more) to your mental health. FYI, I chose Squirtle. I love Water Pokemon.

One of my favorite fandoms is Star Trek. Not only is it an amazing Sci-Fi series, but it teaches life lessons that are always ahead of its time. A major example are the lessons surrounding equality and representation. It means so much to me to see individuals who look like me pioneer through space. Though we are coming to the end of Black History Month, this lesson should continue to be taught, for the sake of people who look like me, and all others out there.
