Here’s something your skin might be trying to tell you… 👀✨
Your skin can be oily AND dehydrated at the same time! Yes, really.
One of the biggest skincare misconceptions is that oily skin doesn’t need moisture. But here’s the difference:
💧 Oily skin is a skin type that produces excess sebum (oil).
💧 Dehydrated skin is a skin condition where the skin lacks water. It can happen to ANY skin type, even oily skin!
So, if your skin looks shiny but feels tight, rough, dull, or uncomfortable, dehydration could be part of the problem.
What causes dehydrated skin?
Over-cleansing, excessive exfoliation, harsh skincare products, dry weather, and a compromised skin barrier can all contribute to moisture loss.
Here’s what we want you to know:
✨ Don’t strip your skin. That squeaky-clean feeling isn’t necessarily a good thing! Your cleanser should leave your skin feeling comfortable, not tight.
✨ Hydration and moisture aren’t the same. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and panthenol help attract and retain water, while a good moisturizer helps reduce moisture loss and support your skin barrier.
✨ Don’t skip moisturizer. Even oily skin benefits from a lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer.
✨ Less can be more. Using too many active ingredients or exfoliating too frequently can leave your skin irritated and dehydrated.
✨ Consistency is key. A simple routine tailored to your skin is often more beneficial than constantly switching products.
And remember: The goal isn’t to eliminate all the oil from your skin. It’s to support a healthy, balanced skin barrier. 🤍
