We were honored to represent RE-Assist at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C., where we were invited on behalf of CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz and Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to participate in an important conversation about the future of healthcare innovation.
This recognition reflects our commitment to solving some of healthcare's most persistent challenges—including administrative complexity, fragmented systems, delayed referrals, and communication gaps that impact both patients and providers every day.
Collaborating with CMS, healthcare leaders, technology innovators, and policymakers reinforced a shared vision: leveraging technology to improve patient outcomes while making healthcare more connected, efficient, and accessible.
We're grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these important discussions and remain committed to building solutions that simplify healthcare and create meaningful impact for providers and the patients they serve.

From the founder's desk:
As America prepares to celebrate 250 years, I have been reflecting on what the American Dream means to my family.

My father worked at GE as an engineer, where he helped develop technology designed to reduce fuel use in airplanes. I grew up watching him study complex systems, map processes, identify inefficiencies, and create solutions that could make something work better.

I did not realize it at the time, but I carried that same way of thinking into every job I held.

For more than 20 years, I worked in care management, case management, and healthcare navigation. In every role, I naturally mapped the processes around me. I studied how hospitals, healthcare institutions, and community organizations worked together, where communication broke down, and why patients and families struggled to find the care and resources they needed.

Then my sister became seriously ill.

Healthcare navigation was no longer just my profession. It became personal. I experienced the system as a nurse, a caregiver, a sister, and an advocate trying to hold everything together for someone I loved.

It all turned around during COVID, our lives slowed down long enough for an idea to become something real. Together, we began developing a product inspired by everything I had learned from my father, my career, my sister’s healthcare journey, and the countless families I had served.

That product became RE-Assist.

Our story is one generation building technology for aviation and the next building technology to improve healthcare navigation. It is a father passing down more than technical knowledge. He passed down the belief that complicated systems can be understood, redesigned, and made better.

RE-Assist and Harvard Business School: blackboxLabs digital, data and design. We are proud to recognize and thank the blackbox Lab, led by James Whitcomb Riley for almost 2 years the support they provided RE-Assist during an earlier stage of our growth Harvard’s Digital, Data, and Design Institute. Their lab focused on understanding how digital, data, and design can help address historic inequities through innovation, platform development, and new approaches to value creation. That mission strongly aligned with the work we were building through RE-Assist our AI, SDOH insight and patient facing approach. During that period, the blackbox Lab offered thoughtful guidance that helped us strengthen our presentation materials, refine our equity based framing, and better communicate the value of our platform as we prepared for conversations tied to CMS Innovation and others. As we continue engaging hospitals and health systems partners, we believe it is important to share the leaders and institutions that recognized the promise of our work early on by providing their time, expertise, backing and letters of support. While the blackbox Lab formally concluded its activities at Harvard on July 1, 2025, we remain thankful for the role it played in our journey and for the insight and encouragement shared by James W. Riley and the team Kelly Fitzpatrick, Bernal Cortés, and Simon Friis,

A fun fact about RE-Assist is that it was selected for the 2024-2025 Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) Annual Pilot Award Program, an NIH-funded initiative that supports innovative research aimed at translating clinical and community insights into real-world healthcare improvements. "A Usability and Validation Study of RE-ASSIST - An Artificially Intelligent Care Coordination Technology" Through this study, RE-Assist is partnered with a multidisciplinary research team Ronald Hickman, PhD, ACNP-BC, FNAP, FADLN, FAAN Hickman, Jr., PhD, RN, FAAN, Carla Harwell, MD, of University Hospitals; of Case Western Reserve University; Sanmukh Kuppannagari, PhD, of Case Western Reserve University; and David Kaelber, MD, PhD, MPH, of MetroHealth as a collaborator. Together, the team studied how an artificial intelligence-driven care coordination platform can help clinicians navigate provider directories. This project was supported by the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Northern Ohio which is funded by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) of the National Institutes of Health, UM1TR004528. As a veteran case manager and the founder of a business that began with the vision of a mother and her 11-year-old son, it was an incredible honor for RE-Assist to be invited by Health and Human Services to participate in CMS Connectathon—even in the midst of a government shutdown. Even more excited to hear the words from Dr. Oz “You are being recruited.”
RE-Assist joined innovators, health systems, and technology leaders working together to advance interoperability across the healthcare ecosystem.

During the Connectathon, we had the opportunity to demonstrate how RE-Assist supports care coordination by helping providers and care teams quickly identify the right services for patients, while reducing administrative burden and improving outcomes.

It was especially encouraging to engage with leaders across the federal health IT landscape, including teams connected to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy/Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. These leaders are helping shape the future of data exchange, national directories, and patient-centered digital health tools. We are proud to be a Midwest company bringing this into clinical translation.

Honored to share that RE-Assist has been selected as a Semi-Finalist in the 2026 Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Challenge, led by the Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI).

This national competition focuses on digital solutions that reduce administrative burden, address workforce burnout, and expand patient access in primary care. Out of applicants from across the country, 24 companies were selected for their innovation, commercial viability, and potential to strengthen primary care delivery.

RE-Assist was recognized for our work in care coordination, automation, and improving access for underserved populations. We are now entering the Sandbox Matchmaking phase, where we’ll collaborate with leading Massachusetts research and development partners to validate and scale our solution.

Grateful to our team, partners, and the clinicians who continue to believe in building smarter, more sustainable primary care systems.
