Meet Jayni Walker, a public school science teacher, beekeeper-in-training, and the founder behind Chamaele LLC. 🍯
Launched in June 2020 during the peak of the pandemic, Chamaele is a holistic brand that sells infused honey, herbal remedies, and sea moss. The spark for Chamaele was inspired by Jayni's CFO, Mae, who encouraged her to turn her well-known healthy lifestyle into a business. “She gave me that push because it wasn't something that I actually saw in myself, you know?” says Jayni. “So I finally decided to make the product, and then from there, it kind of took off.”
As a high school biological science teacher with a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction, her business focus is on more than just her product. “I need to educate people on the things that are good for their bodies. It's my passion, teaching healthy living and giving back to the community,” Jayni says. She naturally incorporates education into her company's core mission of preventative healthcare, teaching her community how to transition their wellness habits into a more holistic lifestyle.
Operating out of Findlay Kitchen and celebrating their fifth year as outdoor vendors at Findlay Market, Chamaele is entirely family-operated with Jayni's sister, daughter, niece, and mother all helping with production. Their product line features popular artisanal honey infusions like cinnamon and ginger, elderberry, and seasonal hibiscus-lemon—alongside their signature sea moss gels made with real fruit, coconut water, and raw honey.
As one of Findlay Kitchen’s current production pod occupants, the business has seen remarkable growth. "Though we were nervous about taking on a leased space, it has drastically changed our capacity to produce our products, in the best way possible,” Jayni remarks. “We've been able to add more family to our team, expand to new markets, and develop a tighter community with our fellow Kitchen members. We're incredibly grateful for the opportunity.”
Looking ahead, Jayni is currently completing acidic food manufacturing school, wrapping up her beekeeping certification, and conceptualizing a future nonprofit endeavor. Living by her guiding motto to make a difference while she can where she is, Jayni Walker continues to nourish, educate, and uplift the Cincinnati community one jar at a time.
