Congratulations to Dr. Leah Kottyan for being chosen to receive the Partnering to Improve Health award!
Cincinnati Children’s is recognizing Dr. Kottyan for her hard work and commitment to the Discovery Day project, which is crucial to the mission of removing the stigma around research work in the community.
“Discovery Day is one of my favorite community-facing events at Cincinnati Children’s. We use an empty lab space so that the experience is safe, accessible, and welcoming, while still giving kids and families a real sense of what research looks like. Participants get to see microscopes, pipettes, lab equipment, demonstrations, and the people behind the science. For many children, this may be one of their first chances to imagine themselves in a lab or in a career connected to science, medicine, or child health. This event is special to me because it gives us a chance to come together with our neighbors and community members. It is also a wonderful opportunity to show families that research is not something distant or abstract. It is done by people who care deeply about improving children’s health, and it happens right here in Cincinnati.” ~Leah Kottyan, PhD
Dr. Kottyan does so much to advance science—innovative discoveries, education, mentoring, inspiring others and more!
Thank you for all you do, Leah!
