🤔 Should you pop your own neck... get a professional adjustment... or just ignore it?

Most people have tried to "crack" their own neck at least once. It may give you a few seconds of relief, but does it actually correct the problem?

Here's the difference:

❌ Popping your own neck may temporarily relieve pressure, but it often doesn't address the underlying cause and can encourage repetitive self-manipulation.

😕 Ignoring it can allow stiffness, reduced mobility, and discomfort to continue or worsen over time.

✅ A specific chiropractic adjustment is designed to evaluate and address joint function, movement, and nervous system health based on your individual needs.

If your neck is constantly tight, sore, or you feel like you "have to crack it" every day, your body may be telling you it's time to find out why.

Don't just chase temporary relief, look for the cause.

📞 If you're wondering whether chiropractic care could help, we'd be happy to answer your questions and determine if you're a good candidate for care.

🤔 Should you adjust your own neck?

That satisfying pop might feel like you're fixing the problem... but are you?

Most self-cracking only moves the joints that are already moving too much, while the joints that actually need attention often remain restricted.

Think of it like a door with several hinges. If one hinge is stuck, repeatedly moving the loose hinges won't fix the problem.

✅ Temporary relief doesn't always mean you're addressing the cause.

A specific chiropractic adjustment is designed to:
✔️ Improve spinal alignment
✔️ Restore healthy joint motion
✔️ Support proper nervous system function
✔️ Reduce compensation patterns
✔️ Help your body function at its best

Don't just chase the pop, find the cause.

If you've been cracking your neck every day, it may be your body's way of telling you it's time for a professional evaluation.

🤔 "Can I adjust myself?"

It's one of the most common questions I hear in my office.

That satisfying "pop" in your neck or back may feel like an adjustment, but is it really? The answer might surprise you.

A true chiropractic adjustment is specific, controlled, and designed to restore proper joint motion and nervous system function. When you twist or crack yourself, you're often moving the joints that are already too mobile while the areas that actually need attention remain unchanged.

✅ Temporary relief? Sometimes.
❌ Correcting the underlying problem? Usually not.

In my newest blog, I explain:
✔️ Why self-cracking feels good
✔️ The difference between popping a joint and receiving a chiropractic adjustment
✔️ When self-adjusting can actually make the problem worse
✔️ What you can do instead to improve your spinal health

Your spine protects your nervous system, the master control system of your body. It deserves precision, not guesswork.

🦴 Could Chiropractic Adjustments Make Your Spine "Too Loose?"

It's one of the most common questions we hear, and the answer is no.

Chiropractic adjustments don't make your spine unstable. They help restore normal joint motion, improve nervous system function, and allow your body to move the way it was designed to.

Think of it like this: Oiling a door hinge doesn't make the door loose, it helps it move smoothly again. 🚪✨

When your spine moves better, your body functions better.

✅ Better movement
✅ Better function
✅ Better health

Have you ever wondered if chiropractic adjustments could make your back "dependent" or "too loose?" Let us know in the comments, we'd love to answer your questions!

🤔 Can chiropractic adjustments make your spine too loose?
It’s one of the most common myths we hear, and the short answer is no.
A properly performed chiropractic adjustment doesn’t weaken your spine or stretch out your ligaments. Instead, it helps restore normal joint motion, improve nervous system function, and get your body moving the way it was designed to.
In today’s new blog, Dr. Joe breaks down:
✔️ Why this myth persists
✔️ What actually happens during an adjustment
✔️ The truth about spinal stability
✔️ Why regular chiropractic care doesn’t make you “dependent”

🧠 Do You Have a Pinched Nerve? ⚡
Pain that shoots down your arm or leg? Tingling in your fingers or toes? Numbness or weakness that just won’t go away?
These can all be signs of a pinched nerve, but they’re not the only possible cause. That’s why getting the right diagnosis is so important.
At Sheppard Chiropractic, we believe education is the first step toward better health. Our latest guide explains:
✔️ What a pinched nerve actually is
✔️ Common symptoms to watch for
✔️ What can cause nerve irritation
✔️ When it’s time to seek immediate medical attention
✔️ How a chiropractic evaluation may help determine what’s really causing your symptoms
Every patient is different, and the best treatment starts with understanding why you’re hurting, not just where it hurts.
If you’re experiencing radiating pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness, don’t ignore it. Early evaluation can help you get answers and a personalized plan to get back to doing what you love.
