Love it or leave it supplements edition! 🤌🏻

Here are some of the most common supplements you guys ask me about for helping manage perimenopause & menopause symptoms! 🙃

✅ Astaxanthin: Incredible for reducing inflammation & improving cellular energy (also great for vision issues)

⚠️ Cortisolv: This product can be super effective for stress and anxiety, but not everyone can take ashwagandha.

✅ VaginaI Estrogen: LOVEEEE, this is so great for dryness, itching, burning, frequent UTI’s, urinary urgency, and pain during intimacy (🔗 in bio for our Elevate Below estradiol moisturizer)

❌ Berberine patches: I couldn’t find a single brand that contained therapeutic doses of Berberine. I would opt for oral unless you are unable to tolerate oral berb.

✅ DAO enzymes: Super helpful for histamine symptoms, especially relating to food. Take 15 minutes before meals to improve histamine metabolism.

✅ Pregnenolone: This is the ultimate hormone health supp. This is known are the ‘mother hormone’ because it is the precursor for all of your other steroid hormones including DHEA, progesterone, testosterone, & estradiol.

⚠️ GABA: GABA is a calming neurotransmitter that is very beneficial for anxiety, however oral GABA does not cross the blood-brain barrier, so I typically recommend L-theanine instead. 🤌🏻

Let me know what we should cover next?! 👀

If you’re in or menopause & you feel like your HRT just isn’t working anymore… THIS VIDEO IS FOR YOU! 🤔🫵🏻

Let me break it down like this…
You wouldn’t put expensive serum, retinol, or moisturizer on top of dirty, unwashed skin, right? If your pores are clogged, the product has nowhere to go. It just sits on the surface instead of actually absorbing where it needs to. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The same exact logic applies to your hormones.

👉🏻 Every cell in your body has hormone receptors that are designed to receive & utilize HRT
👉🏻 But when your body is inflamed, these receptors can become “clogged”… almost like clogged pores
👉🏻 Clogged receptors make it much harder for your cells to actually absorb the hormones you’re taking
👉🏻 This is called hormone resistance, and we see it in almost every single patient that we treat!

So even if you’re on the correct protocol… even if your labs look “fine”… even if you’ve increased your dose… your body may still not be able to properly absorb your HRT if there’s inflammation in the way. 🫠

When we address inflammation first, we get…
☑️ Better hormone absorption
☑️ Lower therapeutic doses
☑️ Fewer side effects
☑️ Faster, more noticeable relief

It’s not always about taking more hormones. Sometimes it’s about helping your body actually absorb the ones you’re already taking. 🤌🏻

Here are 10 symptoms I wish my doctor hadn’t ignored… 🫠

In my early 20’s, I unknowingly went through perimenopause & menopause, and it took me almost 8 years to finally get a diagnosis…

During that time, my health started to rapidly decline to the point where I was barely functioning and I no longer recognized the body I was living in. ☹️

Despite the fact that multiple specialists told me that I was fine and everything looked ‘normal’, I knew for a fact that what I was experiencing was absolutely NOT NORMAL! 🥹

Some of my most debilitating symptoms during perimenopause & menopause were…

👉🏻 Anxiety & depression
👉🏻 Rapid weight gain and metabolic dysfunction
👉🏻 Heart palpitations, racing heart, & hypertension
👉🏻 Facial swelling & hives (urticaria)
👉🏻 Chronic insomnia & fatigue
👉🏻 Circulation issues
👉🏻 Chronic nerve pain and other neurological issues
👉🏻 Histamine intolerance (I became allergic to everything!!!)
👉🏻 Severe brain fog that left me incapacitated
👉🏻 Chronic joint pain that decreased my mobility

These are just the symptoms that caused the most physical discomfort. This doesn’t even include the full body dryness & itching, itchy ears, hair loss, menstrual changes, chronic post nasal drip, hypertension, hot flashes/night sweats, and complete loss of libido.

It wasn’t until the providers at Elevate MD ran comprehensive bloodwork that all of my symptoms FINALLY clicked together, and I was diagnosed as post-menopausal at the age of 27.

You know your body better than anyone else, and you deserve answers! NORMAL ≠ OPTIMIZED 🥹🫶🏻

Replying to: Well this is awkward… 😅 Who else was ready for some new hacks? I was about to take notes! 🤣

Replying to: mechanics of human Have you ever wondered why it seems as though our mothers and grandmothers didn’t struggle the way we do when it comes to perimenopause & menopause? 🤔

Previous generations didn’t struggle less than we do. They struggled in silence… because the alternative was terrifying.

☑️ Electroshock therapy for “hysteria”
☑️ Lobotomies for women labeled “difficult” or “emotional”
☑️ Harsh sedatives for being too “on edge”
☑️ Institutionalization for symptoms that were probably just… hormones. 🥹

Our mothers & grandmothers learned very quickly that asking for help could cost them their autonomy, their freedom, even their minds. So they didn’t ask. They endured.

We are one of the first generations of women who can advocate for ourselves without fear of being locked away for it. That is not a small thing. That is progress paid for by women who never got the chance to be heard.

But let’s be honest… we still have a long way to go. Too many of us are still being dismissed, gaslit, or told to “just deal with it.”

We owe it to every woman who was silenced before us to keep speaking up, keep asking questions, & keep demanding better care. We deserve to be heard. And we will not suffer in silence. ❤️

Could low vitamin D be making your symptoms way worse? 🤔👀

Vitamin D isn’t just a vitamin, it functions more like a multifunctional prohormone. You have Vitamin D receptors all throughout your body… so when your levels are low, it doesn’t just affect one system, it affects ALL of them. (FYI: we consider anything less than 40 ng/mL to be low. 😅)

Here are some of the most common symptoms we hear from patients with sub-optimal vitamin D:

☑️ Chronic fatigue, even after a full night’s sleep
☑️ Low mood or increased anxiety
☑️ Hair thinning or hair loss
☑️ Joint & muscle aches
☑️ Brain fog & poor concentration
☑️ Getting sick more often than usual
☑️ Muscle weakness
☑️ Low libido
☑️ Achy bones or lower back pain
☑️ Poor sleep quality

Here’s the catch though…anything less than 5,000 IU isn’t going to make a real dent in your levels or your symptoms. For our patients who are chronically deficient, we typically recommend a protocol of 5,000-10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 paired with K2 for optimal absorption and symptom relief! 🤌🏻

Comment ELEVATE and I’ll send you the 🔗 for a 2 month supply of our clinical grade D3 + K2.

What exactly is estrogen dominance & why is it so common during ? 🤔

Put simply, estrogen dominance is a hormonal imbalance that happens when your estrogen to progesterone ration is out of whack. This typically means that your body is either producing too much estrogen, not enough progesterone, or your body is not metabolizing & detoxing estrogen fast enough.

This is a common issue we see in our perimenopause patients, because progesterone is typically the first hormone that begins to decline during peri which creates the perfect environment for estrogen dominance. (Think of estrogen as the gas, & progesterone is the brakes!)

But here’s the interesting part... estrogen dominance doesn’t always mean that your estrogen levels are super high. During perimenopause, we more commonly see something called ‘relative estrogen dominance. This is when your estrogen levels are still relatively normal (or maybe even low), but your progesterone levels are WAY too low to be able to counter balance your estrogen levels.

And the most frustrating part for most patients is that ALLL of these imbalances will still look ‘normal’ on your lab results unless your provider knows what they are looking for. 🤦🏻‍♀️🫠

This is why we always emphasize that normal ‡ optimized, especially in the context of perimenopause. Your lab results can provide valuable context, but they may not accurately tell your story if your provider is not interpreting your lab results in the context of your symptoms!

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, I can guarantee you that your levels certainly are NOT optimized. We cannot dismiss these symptoms simply because your lab results fall within a ‘normal’ range. Your quality of life matters, & these symptoms deserve to be treated. ❤️
