Donald E. Fuller

Donald E. Fuller, 86, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY.

Don was born on December 30, 1939, in Cortland, NY, the son of the late Edward and Lydia Kibbe Fuller.

Don built a life marked by hard work and service to his community. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Don Fuller Trucking in Cincinnatus. Before that, he worked for Smith Corona for 26 years, and he also served two terms as the Cincinnatus Highway Superintendent. He was also a member of Tractors of Yesteryear, an interest that reflected a connection to the people and pursuits he valued.

Above all, Don will be remembered by the family who shared in his life and loved him deeply. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Roberta Stith Fuller. He also leaves his daughter Sheila Fox of Cortland; his son William Fuller and his spouse, Kelli, of Cincinnatus; his daughter Cheryl Munro and her spouse, Buzzy, of Cincinnatus; and his son Billy Joe Bevins of Cincinnatus.

His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren, Clinton (Jessica) Fox, Addie (Cliff) Hovis, Derek (Elizabeth) Fuller, Dana (Summer) Fuller, Dustin (Kendall) Fuller, Kyle Robinson, Jordan (Payten) Boice, and Ed (Emily) Munro. He also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren; a brother David (Monika) Fuller of Cincinnatus, and a sister Beverly (Barnie) Small of Pharsalia. May his family find comfort in the many years they shared with him and in the lasting memories he leaves behind.

Funeral services for Don will be held at the Church of Christ in Christian Union on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. with his pastor, Reverend Palmer Neumeister, officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Joe Diaz, Jr.

Joe Diaz, Jr., 82, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2026, at the NYS Veterans Home at Oxford, NY, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Cortland, New York, Joe attended Cincinnatus Central School and served in the United States Army, spending his last 2 years at the U.S. Army base in Chinon, France. He received an honorable discharge and went on to build a fulfilling career as a long-distance truck driver, heavy equipment operator and supervisor for Penn Can Road Materials and Barrett Paving, and then in retirement as snowplow driver for the Town of Taylor, NY.

Joe was a human GPS, possessing the rare talent to navigate nearly anywhere in the country, entirely from memory. An enthusiast of the outdoors, Joe was an avid snowmobiler who devoted many years to maintaining trails as a volunteer trail groomer for the Trailhounds Snowmobile Club. His greatest passions were hunting and fishing; he was happiest navigating the woods on his Ranger, waiting patiently in a tree stand, or sharing stories over a card game at hunting camp. At home, he was celebrated as the ultimate master chef at his annual family chicken barbecue.

Joe’s legacy is carried on by his son Joey (Lori) Diaz of Concord, NC, and daughter Melanie (Dave) Pelosi of West Windsor, NJ and his step daughters Cherie Zurell of Cortland, and Shannon Zurell of Concord, NC. He adored his grandchildren Jillian, Tommy and Samantha Pelosi, Jacob and Will Diaz, Taylor, Kaitlyn and Josie Randall , Madison (James) Shivery and Tori Allen. He is also survived by his siblings, Sally Diaz of Savona, Ruth (Mike) Credno of Baldwinsville, and Jimmie Diaz of San Francisco, CA as well as an aunt, many cousins and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Joe Diaz, Sr. and Ruth (Smith) Diaz.

To honor and celebrate Joe’s life, a period of visitation will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Memorial services for Joe will be held at the funeral home at the conclusion of the visitation at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Will Gallerani officiating. Floyd "Stub" Mowry, Jr.

Floyd “Stub” Mowry, Jr., 85, of Vestal, NY and formerly of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2026, at the Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY.

Stub was born in Cortland, NY, on January 9, 1941, the son of the late Floyd Mowry, Sr. and Florence Lees Mowry. Stub will be remembered as a hardworking man who, prior to his retirement, owned and operated S&D Tire in Murray, Utah. He also found great enjoyment in the world of classic cars. A member of several car clubs, including the Scrapers Car Club, he took pleasure in collecting and rebuilding classic cars, a pastime that reflected both his skill and his enthusiasm.

Above all, Stub’s life was centered on his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mowry, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughter, Angela (Bob) Mekkelson of Draper, UT.

His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Stephanie (Melissa) Murphy, Shanell (Charlie) Richards, Sheldon (Beka) Vincent, Erick Mowry, Brian Mowry and Shalecia Mowry; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Knight of Cortland; his brother, David Mowry of Cortland; his sister, Cheryl (Terry) Tracy of Homer; and his brother, Jerry (Diane) Mowry of Camillus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons Brian Mowry and Brent Mowry; and his brother, Don Mowry.

Wayne C. Landers

Wayne C. Landers, 81, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, after becoming ill at home.

Wayne was born in Smithville Flats, NY, on November 6, 1944, the son of the late Lloyd and Marion French Landers. Wayne was known for his steadfast work ethic, integrity, and commitment to those around him. His lengthy career spanned more than three decades at Smith-Corona as a manufacturing engineer, where he contributed to the success of a company that was integral to the local economy and the lives of many families. Following the closing of Smith-Corona, Wayne continued his career at Rifenburg Construction, further demonstrating his adaptability and strong sense of purpose.

Wayne's dedication extended well beyond his professional life. He was an active participant in his community, dedicating his time and talents to a variety of organizations. Wayne was an avid snowmobiler and a proud member of the Trailhounds Snowmobile Club, where he found both recreation and camaraderie. His commitment to service was evident through his involvement as a former member of the Cincinnatus School Board, where he worked to support and improve educational opportunities for local students.

Wayne was a devoted member of the Lions Club and served his community through the Cincinnatus Fire Department and the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad. He had also served as a member of the Cincinnatus Planning Board. His generosity, compassion, and drive to help others left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege to know him.

Wayne’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 60 years, Linda Sherman Landers; his daughters, Lori Wood and Lonni Yale, and their husbands, Jeff Wood and Randy Yale; his son, Don Landers, and his wife, Shannon Landers. Wayne was a cherished grandfather to Aaron (Brittany) Wood, Jenna (Dan) Larkin, Alison (Brad) Burke, Kurtis (Nakeya) Yale, Piper Landers, Dominic Landers, and Payton Landers. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Amelia and Beau Wood, Henry and Theodore Larkin, Adyson, Brynlee, and Cooper Burke, and Kyler and Kade Yale. Each of them held a special place in Wayne’s heart, and his pride in his family was immeasurable.

Lenwill Fredrick Burmester

Lenwill Fredrick "Ricky" Burmester, Jr., 75, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY, after becoming ill at home.

Ricky was born in Queens, NY, on July 14, 1951, the son of the late Lenwill Burmester, Sr. and Mary Alt Burmester Moore. Ricky's vibrant spirit and deep sense of duty shaped a life of dedicated service, unwavering love, and boundless generosity.

Ricky was a proud 1970 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School, laying a foundation of hard work and learning that would continue to serve him throughout his life. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country and became a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he earned an honorable discharge. The discipline, honor, and camaraderie he experienced during his military service became cornerstones of his character and were evident in all he did.

His career took him to the heart of New York City, where he served the community as a member of the FDNY as he followed his grandfather and joined his four uncles. From September 1, 1978, until September 27, 2002, Ricky served with courage and distinction, culminating with his response to the World Trade Center on 9/11, leading his men safely home as their Lieutenant. His unwavering commitment to protecting others left a lasting impression on those who served alongside him and those whom he helped during times of greatest need.

Though his professional achievements were many, Ricky was a farmer at heart. The fields and pastures of Dutch Hill Road called to him, and he found true joy working on his tractors, mowing fields, and tending the land that became the Burmester Farm. This connection to the earth was matched only by his connection to people. Ricky delighted in spending time with others, sharing stories, laughter, and warmth. Nothing mattered more to him than the love he had for his family.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Yoomi An Burmester of Bayside, NY; two sons, Lenwill “Lenny” (Erin) Burmester III of Whitestone, NY and Brett (Carla) Burmester of Bayside, NY, who carry forward his legacy of integrity and kindness. His cherished grandchildren—Lenwill “Will” Burmester IV, Cole Burmester, Madalyn Burmester, Vanneza Bobadilla, Jaela Burmester, Ashley Burmester, and Ruby Burmester—were a constant source of pride and happiness, each of them touched by his patient guidance and abundant affection. Ricky is also survived by his loving sister, Cynthia (Tim) Byers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as two sisters, Donna Maroney and Lenora Burmester. Their memories held a special place in Ricky’s heart, and he often spoke fondly of their time together.

Family and friends, and all whose lives were brightened by Ricky’s generosity and warmth are invited to gather for a period visitation on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at K L Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, followed by a closing prayer by Reverend Mark Brown. In keeping with the wishes of the family, there will be no formal funeral service.

This will be a time to remember Ricky’s life, reflect on the profound impact of his many roles—protector, caretaker, friend, and confidant—and extend comfort to one another in the spirit he so effortlessly embodied.

Evelyn Louise Fisher

Evelyn Louise Fisher, affectionately known as "Dolly," passed away at her home in Cincinnatus, NY, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 84.

Dolly was born in Buffalo, NY on October 19, 1941. Evelyn touched the lives of many with her warmth, compassion, and unwavering strength. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints, Cortland.

Evelyn devoted her life to the care of others, both in her personal and professional life. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Buffalo Hospital, where her kindness and dedication to her patients were evident to all who knew her. Colleagues and patients alike remember her gentle spirit and her willingness to go above and beyond to offer comfort and healing.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and family. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Misty, and her son, Heath. She is also lovingly remembered by her step-sons, Vaughn, Shawn, and Todd, and her step-daughter, Deedee. Evelyn’s siblings — brothers David and Ricky, and sisters Edna, Pat, and Donna — mourn her loss while cherishing the many memories they shared. Her life was further enriched by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will continue to hold her in their hearts.

Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frederick Fisher, whose memory she carried with her always.

Megan M. (Becker) Warner, 50, of DeRuyter, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, while surrounded by her loving family.

Megan was born in Kirkland, WA on September 14, 1975, the daughter of William and Karen Jachimiak Becker. Megan’s life was a testament to kindness, devotion, and quiet strength, qualities that touched everyone she encountered. A 1994 graduate of DeRuyter Central School, Megan was remembered by classmates and teachers alike as a very social student with a great love for musicals and theater. She was a loyal friend, always eager to lend a hand. Megan brought her trademark diligence and warmth into her professional life as well, working with commitment at Knowles Capacitors in Cazenovia until her illness prevented her from continuing.

Megan’s sense of service extended beyond the workplace into the heart of her community. As a member and strong advocate for the Cuyler Youth Group, she worked tirelessly to support and uplift local youth. Her compassion and encouragement inspired many young people to reach their potential, leaving an enduring legacy of hope and opportunity. Family was always at the center of Megan’s world.

She is lovingly survived by her husband Douglas Tytler; her daughters, Karen Warner, Abigail Warner, and Annabelle Tytler; her sons, Owen Tytler and Nathan Warner, all of DeRuyter. Megan’s love and guidance have shaped their lives in immeasurable ways, providing a foundation of unconditional support and warmth. She is also survived by her father, William Becker, and step-mother, Margaret Becker. Megan’s siblings, Jenni Cirbus and husband Joseph, Mark Becker, Zachary Becker and wife Tiffany, Kathryn Becker, and Wade Becker and wife Ria, sisters-in-law Joanne Fostveit and husband Bruce, Ann Howell and husband Donald, and Cathleen Truesdale and husband Alan, together with several nieces, nephews, and cousins, will forever cherish the laughter, wisdom, and memorable family gatherings that Megan so lovingly fostered. Each member of her large and close-knit family remembers her as a confidant, a champion, and a steady source of comfort.

She was predeceased by her mother Karen Jachimiak Becker, step-mother Lynn Becker, Douglas’ parents Whizz and Jane Tytler grandparents, sister-in-law Diana Dennis aunts, uncles, and cousins whose memory Megan held dear. Megan’s presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her, but her spirit endures in the lives of her children, the heart of her family, and the community to which she gave so much.

Elizabeth "Lisa" Hathaway

Elizabeth "Lisa" Hathaway, 78, of McDonough, New York, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

Elizabeth is survived by her devoted husband, Ray; her children, Bonnie, CJ, Thomas, and Wendy; her daughter-in-law Bobbi Jo; her favorite son-in-law, Michael Fly; and her cherished grandchildren, Lee, Dillon, Bryant, Ray, Jeremy, Zachary, Makia, and Jordan.

She was preceded in death by her beloved youngest son, Ray Ray.

Lisa had a deep love for animals and shared her home with many beloved pets throughout her life. She enjoyed staying active, whether riding her bike or swimming, and found great joy in spending time outdoors. A faithful member of Calvary Church, she worshipped alongside her daughter Wendy and found comfort and community in her church family.

More than anything, Lisa was the heart of her family. She was known for her quick wit, warm sense of humor, and the way she could make anyone feel welcome. She always had advice to share, a story to tell, or a joke to brighten someone's day. Her kindness, strength, and unconditional love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Richard I. O'Dell

Richard I. O’Dell, 81, of Cortland, NY, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022, at his home.

Born in Pitcher, NY, on March 9, 1941, Richard was the son of the late Lawrence and Alta Morgan O’Dell. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He retired from the Cortland Regional Medical Center after 40 years of service so that he could spend more time with his grandchildren. Richard loved watching football and rooted for all the teams. He enjoyed working on cars for his family and friends and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his brother, Elwin O’Dell of Florida, and his sisters, Kim Anderson of Florida and Harriette Booterbaugh of Michigan. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Donald Williams, Jr. of Truxton and Lyla Williams of Maryland; his great-grandchildren, Melinda Walrath of Pennsylvania, Samantha Williams of Cincinnatus, Brandi (Sam) Gibson of Pennsylvania, Brooke Williams of Binghamton, NY and Chloe Williams of Cortland; his caregiver, Debbie (Larry) Kriever of Homer; 8 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marjory O’Dell, in 2009; brothers, Earle, Ralph, Phillip, Morgan and James; and sisters, Josephine Cross and Wanda Adams.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date in the spring.

Warren E. Barth

Warren E. Barth, born October 1, 1926, in Fairview, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Guthrie Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Cortland, New York, at the age of 99.

Warren lived a long and meaningful life, marked by dedication to his family and a quiet strength that touched all who knew him. Warren's journey began in Fairview, WV, the son of the late Walter and Golda Wilson Barth. It was here that his early years shaped the steadfast character and values that would serve as the foundation of his life. Through nine remarkable decades, he cultivated deep roots wherever he went, consistently guided by his integrity, kindness, and commitment to those he held dear.

A proud veteran, Warren served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during both World War II and the Korean Conflict, exemplifying bravery and patriotism throughout his military service. His sense of duty and commitment to helping others continued beyond his years in the service and influenced all aspects of his life.

Warren dedicated himself to a variety of organizations that were close to his heart. For over sixty years, he was a passionate member and Past Master of the Crossroads Lodge F&AM in Syracuse and the Valley of Syracuse Scottish Rite Bodies. He also served as the member and past commander of the McGraw American Legion Post. His community involvement extended further as a past member of the McGraw Lions Club, and as member emeritus and Past President of the Cortland Salvation Army Board. He served as Vice President of the Chenango Mutual Insurance Company, consistently offering leadership and guidance. He was the former owner of the Denniston Insurance Agency in McGraw, the Hartwell Funeral Home in Tully and for 48 years, until his retirement, he owned and operated the Barth Funeral Home in McGraw.

Warren was a devoted husband to his late wife, Ellen Barth, whose loving partnership enriched his days and provided him with constant support until her passing. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Kimberly Barth, a loss felt deeply within the family.

He is survived by his daughter Deborah Barth, who carries forward his spirit and legacy. The close bond Warren shared with Deb was a source of immense pride and comfort. Throughout his life, Warren's devotion to his family remained one of his proudest accomplishments, and his memory will continue to inspire them.

Though many details of Warren's daily life and pursuits are private, those who knew him remember a man of quiet dignity—a person who valued tradition, showed unwavering loyalty, and left an indelible impression on those around him. His wisdom, gentle presence, and sense of responsibility were gifts to his loved ones and community.

Family and friends will gather to honor Warren’s life at a graveside service on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., held at Tully Cemetery in Tully, New York.
