Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) are overgrowths of algae in fresh or marine water. Some produce dangerous toxins, which can sicken or kill people and animals. Even non-toxic blooms also negatively impact the environment by creating dead zones in the water and eventually economies by hurting industries depending on clean water. Algal toxins are mostly produced from cyanobacteria (blue green algae), but also red tides. Although algal toxins are originally from water, they may be transported to air and soil as well.

EMSL’s Aquatic Microbiology Division offers algal identification, algal biomass analysis, and various algal toxins testing for water, air, and soil samples. To learn more about HABs, visit https://lnkd.in/ehZkpvwa.

For asbestos in soil analysis, EMSL offers four levels of analysis for the EPA/600/R-93/116 and CARB 435 Method: Level A PLM (0.25% sensitivity level); Level B PLM (0.1% sensitivity level); Level B TEM (0.1% sensitivity level); and Level C TEM (0.01% sensitivity level). To learn more about Asbestos in Soil Testing with EMSL, visit https://lnkd.in/eSYy_7ce.

Due to the variation in material and source of the asbestos, sampling and analytical approach should be discussed with the laboratory prior to the start of a soil project.

Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) are a significant source of complications across the healthcare industry and can be transmitted between different healthcare facilities. Recent studies suggest that the implementation of prevention practices can lead to a 70 percent reduction in certain HAIs.

EMSL utilizes advanced analytical techniques and expertise to accurately identify and assess the presence of HAIs in healthcare facilities. We provide analysis of several HAIs, including identifying Clostridium difficile, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB), Staphylococcus aureus, Vancomycin-resistant Enterococci (VRE), and much more.
