Your thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland that is at the base of your neck. It is the master gland and the hormone conductor in the body. Your thyroid produces T4 (which is later converted to the active form of thyroid hormone T3). T3 plays a key role in regulating blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, metabolism and the reaction of the body to other hormones. You have a receptor for thyroid hormone on every cell of your body, so the effects are vast. This is why it is so very important to have proper thyroid function.
