Your feed should be a space that inspires or relaxes you, not a checklist of why you aren’t “enough.” You don’t owe anyone a follow. You don’t owe anyone access to your energy. Unfollowing, muting, or taking a full-on digital detox isn’t a failure to cope. You’re actively choosing to heal ❤️‍🩹

Sometimes the fastest way to calm the body is through the breath.

When we extend the exhale longer than the inhale, we help activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the part of the nervous system associated with rest, regulation, and safety.

This signals to the body that it is okay to slow down.

A simple way to practice this:
Inhale for 4 seconds.
Exhale for 6–8 seconds.

The goal is not to force yourself to “calm down,” but to gently support your nervous system in coming back to regulation. Practicing intentional breathing can create more safety and awareness in the body over time.

The “compare and despair” trap is incredibly sneaky because it often masquerades as a harmless habit. You tell yourself you’re just checking in, just seeing what people are up to, or looking for “inspiration.”

But there is a very distinct boundary where observation turns into self-punishment.

When these five signs start showing up, it’s a clear signal from your nervous system that it’s time to step back, look inward, and protect your peace. Your timeline is allowed to look completely different from everyone else’s and that doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong.

There’s truth in the idea that you can’t fully love someone else until you love yourself. But it’s not about waiting for some perfect version of yourself. It’s about showing up in your relationships as the person you’re becoming. When you know your values, set your boundaries, and stay true to who you are, you create space for relationships that don’t just accept you, but CELEBRATE you!

Reminder: Self-neglect is not a marriage requirement. 🛑

Somewhere along the way, we let in the narrative that sacrificing our individuality is just “what you do” in a relationship. But a healthy marriage doesn’t ask you to erase who you are.

Real partnership is about supporting each other’s individual growth so you can build a stronger foundation together.

If you feel like you’ve lost your identity since getting married, it’s time to ask yourself why? What needs to change? Reclaiming your sense of self isn’t selfish. It’s necessary.
