We are hiring school-based occupational therapists across Southern California, and here is what we are actually offering you.
Not just a caseload. A method.
Every school-based OT has faced the moment when the assessment is done, the IEP team is waiting, and someone asks how many minutes the student should get. Most of us were never taught a defensible way to answer that.
At Whole Child Therapy, our OTs are mentored in a clinical reasoning framework that maps assessment findings onto five service pathways, from accommodations and consultation all the way through to service completion. Each pathway comes with its own justification checklist, so what you write in the IEP is something you can stand behind in the room, in a review, and in a due process hearing.
Two lenses drive it. The Ecological Model asks whether the barrier lives in the Person, the Task, or the Context. The Educational Framework for Child Success traces how sensory integrative foundations support abilities, and how abilities enable participation in education.
What that mentorship looks like on the ground:
A written position paper that is our standard of practice
School-Based OT 101 onboarding for new grads and for clinic OTs moving into schools
A 90-day competency plan with a named mentor
Supervision that reviews your reasoning, not just your paperwork
Screening, triage, and dismissal tools ready before your first IEP
If you are an OT who wants to be better at this in a year than you are today, we would like to meet you.
