hypervigialance

You are not failing at handling life. Your nervous system has been protecting you for years — and there's a profound difference.

Every reaction that ever felt too big, too sharp, too much —
the impatience,
the hypervigilance,
the utter exhaustion
— those were not character flaws.

They were your nervous system doing exactly what it was designed to do: protect you from threat.

Stress hormones are brilliant in a crisis.

But when they run chronically — without full discharge and recovery — they create the symptoms we mistake for personal failure.

You didn't fail.
You adapted.

Here's a tool animals use instinctively — and we've forgotten. Stand up and shake your hands vigorously for 30 seconds. Let it travel up your arms and into your shoulders. Get a little loose and ridiculous with it. Finish with three slow exhales.

Animals discharge stress hormones through shaking after a threat passes. It’s also called “shuddering.” This does the same thing for you.

Your nervous system knows exactly what to do. It just needs permission.

You are not failing.
You are ready to heal.
DM me RELIEF for another tool that works at this level. 🌿

hard things

Stress prevention doesn't mean avoiding hard things. Stress prevention means meeting hard experiences without constantly bracing against them.

There IS a difference between experiencing something difficult — and *bracing* yourself against it. That constant low-grade tensing, anticipating, armoring up that keeps your stress hormones running even when nothing acute is happening.

Chronic bracing is what causes the damage. Not life itself.

Here's a 60-second body scan you can do during a staff meeting or while your students are lining up. Start at the top of your head and move slowly down to your feet. Notice where you're holding — shoulders, jaw, hands, stomach. At each place, exhale and consciously soften. You don't have to fix it. Just notice and release.

Research shows that deliberate body awareness combined with slow exhaling reduces baseline cortisol over time. You are literally training your body to carry life without bracing against it.

Hard things will come. You can meet them without tensing in advance.

DM me CALM for another tool to release the brace. 🌿

Every transformation begins with an honest look in the mirror.” 🪞✨

Before stepping into the spotlight as Mrs. Colorado American 2026 and hosting The Health Revolution, Adriana Morrison had a pivotal, life-altering moment of raw honesty with herself.

In this moving preview snippet from Simply Sarah, host Sarah Stockham talks with Adriana about that exact "mirror moment"—the instant she looked at her reflection, stopped making excuses, and decided to completely rewrite her health and future.

If you're standing at the edge of your own fresh start, this conversation is the sign you've been looking for. 🤍

Vagal tone. You may not have heard this term. But it is one of the most important markers of your health. 🌿

Your vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in your body — running from your brainstem through your throat, heart, lungs, and gut.

Vagal tone is a measure of how well that nerve is functioning — how responsive your parasympathetic nervous system is, and how quickly you recover from stress.

High vagal tone = you bounce back quickly. You sleep well. You think clearly under pressure.

Low vagal tone = chronic stress, slow recovery, emotional reactivity, poor sleep.

Here's what improves vagal tone:

→ Humming and singing
→ Slow, deep breathing with extended exhale
→ Cold water on the face or wrists
→ Massage behind the ears
→ Walking barefoot on natural ground
→ Gentle movement

All free. All available today. All science-backed.

Your vagus nerve is trainable. Start today. 🌿

This week I’m honored to welcome Inventors Debbie Sutton and Troy Sutton.

Hi, I’m Debbie Sutton: a mom, a business founder, and someone who’s made a bit of an art out of “getting sh*t done.” I’m passionate about lifting up women and I’m inspired every single day by the strength, humor, and resilience seen in our community.

Co-founding The Healing Bras has been one of the most meaningful adventures of my life, but I’m just as proud of the simple moments that ground me.

I love cooking for the people I care about, spending time at the beach, and hanging out with my dog, who thinks he runs the house…

I try to lead with my heart, ask questions and stay curious, and always keep moving forward.

At the end of the day, I’m just a woman who believes deeply in showing up, doing the work, and making life a little better - one Healing Pad at a time.

You deserve support

You do not have to hit rock bottom to deserve support. And I waited too long to learn that.

I kept thinking I'd address the stress *after.* After the school year. After things calmed down.

But chronic stress doesn't wait. It's working on your cells, your sleep, your cardiovascular health right now — quietly, consistently, in the background.

Burnout isn't a sudden collapse. It's a slow accumulation of ignored signals.

Here's one signal your body will thank you for answering. Step outside for three minutes. Walk slowly. Notice one thing you can see, one you can hear, one you can feel beneath your feet. Let your arms swing and breathe without controlling it.

Gross motor movement discharges stored stress hormones from your body. Combined with sensory anchoring, it tells your nervous system: *the threat has passed. I am here. I am okay.*

You don't have to be at the end of your rope to deserve support.
